At SNMMCH, no OPD registration for patients without smartphones

1 2 Dhanbad : The digital registration system, which has been recently implemented at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH), is posing problems for poor and illiterate patients as many of them are being forced to turn back due to lack of knowledge in operating smartphones. Under the new process, patients or their attendants must complete online registration through a mobile phone to receive a token for OPD treatment. While health officials claimed the move is aimed at making the process more transparent and efficient, ground realities paint a different picture for underprivileged sections. "I don't have an Android phone, nor do I know how to use one. When I asked for help, the hospital staff were rude and told me registration won't be done without it," said Akhilesh Kumar, a patient. Sakina Khatoon, who had brought her ailing son for treatment, faced similar difficulties. "I kept requesting staff to help me, but they refused as I couldn't complete the online registration," she said. The situation has triggered strong reactions from patients and attendants, many of whom have demanded the restoration of the manual registration system. Dharmendra Kumar, acting Superintendent of SNNMCH, said, "We are aware that several patients have been troubled by the new system. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Đây có thể là thời điểm tốt nhất để giao dịch vàng trong 5 năm qua IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo It's a govt directive to move to digital registration, but we are trying to ease the process." He added that two employees equipped with tablets have been deployed at the registration counters to assist patients who lack smartphones or are not tech-savvy. "Our aim is to support every patient, especially those coming from far-off areas. We are providing on-the-spot assistance to ensure no one is denied treatment," he said.
