The Navi Mumbai crime branch's Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) has busted an online prostitution racket operated by three pimps in Navi Mumbai. The cops have arrested three accused pimps and rescued five women from the flesh trade after a decoy customer communicated on WhatsApp with the operator of online prostitution racket and the police team raided a lodge in Turbhe area on Tuesday late night and thereafter at rental house in Nerul.
Prithviraj Ghorpade, senior inspector of AHTU informed that, after learning that when a mobile number was searched on Google, it displayed three online websites providing escorts and when clicked on them, it directed to WhatsApp chatting of that mobile number. When chatted, it claimed that women were available for sexual favour wherein the customer can either book a lodge in Nerul, Vashi or Turbhe area or take the woman escort along for five hours by paying Rs 4000.
Hence, our decoy customer chatted on the WhatsApp number and demanded a woman for sexual favours. The decoy then received photos of several women for selection and was told to pay Rs 4000. The decoy was made to book a room in Hotel Golden Oak lodge in Turbhe and was made to send pictures of the room to confirm the booking. Thereafter, a woman was sent to the decoy's room when the decoy alerted the police team lying in wait near the lodge and conducted a raid."
