Need to study rising incidents of sudden cardiac arrest among youth: A N Shamseer
Kochi: There is a need to study the rising incidents of sudden cardiac arrest among the youth, said assembly speaker A N Shamseer at a function held at Medical Trust Hospital on Friday.
"Youth between the ages of 20 and 40 are increasingly succumbing to sudden cardiac arrests, often collapsing without prior symptoms. This trend has particularly intensified in the post-Covid era," Shamseer said. "It is crucial to investigate whether this is a consequence of long-term effects of Covid-19 or driven by other factors. A thorough and serious scientific study must be initiated," he added.
Highlighting Kerala's unique public-private healthcare model, he noted that the involvement of private institutions was essential in undertaking such critical research.
