Kerry make six changes for Munster football final against Clare
KERRY BOSS JACK O'Connor has made six changes for Sunday's Munster senior football final against Clare. Shane Murphy starts in goal, replacing Shane Ryan, who was injured in last month's semi-final win over Cork at Páirc Uí Chaoimh. Paudie Clifford is another notable absentee; suspended following his red card in that game, which finished 3-21 to 1-25 after extra time. Notably, the entire half-forward line is changed. Tony Brosnan, Seán O'Shea and Míchéal Burns start ahead of Clifford, Ruairí Murphy and Graham O'Sullivan. Advertisement Tom O'Sullivan and Mike Breen also return to the starting team, coming in for Paul Murphy and Tadhg Morley in defence. Morley and Ruairí Murphy are the only two of those who drop out of the team, named on the bench. Kerry change over a third of their team for Munster SFC Final against Clare
Keeper Shane Ryan misses out entirely on the match-day squad due to the gash to his knee he suffered in that game. Dr Crokes' Shane Murphy comes in as a straight replacement, with Beaufort's Seán Coffey stepping up to the understudy's role. In defence the Kerry management has made two changes, albeit more from a position of strength as they've been able to welcome back Tom O'Sullivan (who slots in at corner-back in his traditional number 4 shirt) and Mike Breen from injury and illness. Austin Stacks defender Dylan Casey retains his place in the starting fifteen, despite O'Sullivan's return, moving from number 4 to number 2 in place of the injured Paul Murphy of Rathmore. Breen takes the place of Tadhg Morley who came into the side for the game against the Rebels in his absence. Breen, who had pretty much nailed down that position over the course of the National League, reclaiming it at first time of asking. The most radical surgery to the side is to the half-forward line, which is entirely different to what started against Cork in Páirc Uí Chaoimh. Paudie Clifford's suspension robs the Kingdom of their best player so far this season, but Seán O'Shea getting a first championship start is a very replacement to be able to call upon at number 11 At number 10 Ruairí Murphy, who didn't last the full seventy minutes on Leeside, is replaced by Tony Brosnan, while Micheál Burns comes into the side at number 12 in place of the injured Graham O'Sullivan. The full-forward line remains unchanged, as does midfield which sees Joe O'Connor line out alongside Barry 'Dan' O'Sullivan in the continuing absence of Na Gaeil's Diarmuid O'Connor through injury. Amongst the replacements Cathal Ó Beaglaoich of An Ghaeltacht (a midfielder), Keith Evans of Keel (a half-forward) and Cillian Trant of St Senans (another half-forward) also step up. Irish Aberdeen Angus finals to take place at Ploughing 2025
The 2025 Irish Aberdeen-Angus Association (IAAA) All Ireland Finals are set to take place on the opening day of the 2025 National Ploughing Championships in Screggan, Tullamore, Co. Offaly. The announcement was made at the AGM of the National Ploughing Association (NPA) today (Thursday, May 1), by the NPA managing director Anna May McHugh. She said: 'The NPA is absolutely thrilled to have such a prestigious livestock event coming to the Ploughing this year with upwards of 100 animals expected in this competition alone. Univet are again onboard as title sponsor and the All-Ireland Champion will secure the prestigious All-Ireland Championship Trophy – an eye-catching piece of silverware dating back to 1902. The competition is open to all pedigree-registered Aberdeen Angus animals in the Republic of Ireland and the numerous classes, including Junior, Intermediate and Senior Championships, aim to bring together the best of IAAA cattle from the best herds in the country. Whilst the All Ireland Finals take place on the opening day of the Ploughing, there is a full programme of events planned for 'Ploughing Week' in the Aberdeen Angus Tent including: National Youth Development Final, where young livestock handlers from a number of age categories will be doing everything from showing, presenting, stock judging, and interviews on Wednesday. A National Judging Conference, which will incorporate showing, etiquette, and basic-principle talks and classification demonstration addressing the basics of animal physiology, as well as senior judges giving countering arguments on ways they place line-ups of cattle also on Wednesday. Demonstrations showing qualities of Aberdeen Angus and Classification Demos on Thursday. Officials from the Irish Aberdeen Angus Association, including breed secretary Shane Murphy and president John Tait, met with members of the NPA recently on the De Cogan Aberdeen Angus Farm in Co. Cork to finalise details of the event programme before the National Ploughing AGM today. The NPA's exhibition team reported at the AGM that the exhibition arena spaces are 'filling up fast as the 'early bird' package is due to expire in the next few days'. According to the NPA: 'Stand prices starting for less than €1,000 allows many small companies a huge opportunity to sell, promote and network to hundreds of thousands of potential customers and many international buyers as well.' Ploughing 2025 will take place from September 16-18 in Screggan, Tullamore, Co. Offaly.
