ISACA introduces new Advanced in AI Audit Certification
ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association) has unveiled the Advanced in AI Audit (AAIA) certification, a pioneering credential for auditors to address the challenges and opportunities presented by AI in the field of audit. This certification is designed for 'experienced' auditors who are navigating an evolving technology and compliance landscape, with AI taking a central role. The AAIA certification is built upon ISACA's expertise in IT audit and the 'rigorous' standards of credentials like Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and Certified Public Accountant (CPA). It validates the expertise necessary for conducting AI-focused audits, addressing integration challenges, and improving audit processes with AI-driven insights. Eligibility for the AAIA extends to those holding active CISA, CIA, and CPA certifications. The certification encompasses key domains such as AI governance and risk, AI operations, and AI auditing tools and techniques. ISACA chief content and publishing officer Shannon Donahue said: 'ISACA is proud to have served the global audit community for more than 55 years through our audit and assurance standards, frameworks and certifications, and we are continuing to help the community evolve and thrive with the certifications and training they need in this new era of audits involving AI.' 'Through AAIA, auditors can demonstrate their expertise and trusted advisory skills in navigating AI-driven challenges while upholding the highest industry standards.' To aid in exam preparation, ISACA offers the AAIA Review Manual, an Online Review Course, and a Questions, Answers, and Explanations Database (QAE), each providing a year of access for preparation. A recent ISACA survey highlights the importance of AI skills for digital trust professionals, with 85% of respondents indicating the need to increase their AI knowledge within two years. In response to this demand, ISACA has expanded its offerings with a range of AI courses and resources, including the upcoming Advanced in AI Security Management (AAISM) credential. In April 2025, in a move to strengthen digital resilience against cyber threats, a coalition of industry bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (CIIA) and ISACA, urged the UK government to fast-track audit reform legislation. "ISACA introduces new Advanced in AI Audit Certification" was originally created and published by The Accountant, a GlobalData owned brand. ISACA launches first advanced AI audit certification for auditors
ISACA has introduced the Advanced in AI Audit (AAIA) certification aimed at experienced auditors working with artificial intelligence in their audit processes. The AAIA is positioned as the first advanced audit-specific certification for artificial intelligence, targeting professionals who hold credentials such as Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Public Accountant (CPA). The new certification is designed to validate expertise in areas such as AI governance, risk management, operations, and the use of AI auditing tools. According to ISACA, the certification aims to address the evolving requirements of audit and compliance as AI becomes more integral across various industries. It signals an adaptation to the increasing demand for AI literacy, highlighted in a recent LinkedIn report listing AI skills among the fastest-growing in today's professional environment. Shannon Donahue, ISACA Chief Content and Publishing Officer, stated: "ISACA is proud to have served the global audit community for more than 55 years through our audit and assurance standards, frameworks and certifications, and we are continuing to help the community evolve and thrive with the certifications and training they need in this new era of audits involving AI. Through AAIA, auditors can demonstrate their expertise and trusted advisory skills in navigating AI-driven challenges while upholding the highest industry standards." The AAIA certification programme is based on established standards underpinning credentials such as CISA from ISACA, CIA from Institute of Internal Auditors, and CPA from American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. It is designed to ensure that certified auditors can address the specific challenges linked with AI integration, AI compliance, and audit process enhancement through AI-driven insights. ISACA highlights that the certification not only verifies the ability of professionals to audit AI-powered systems but also enables auditors to use AI tools to streamline their own audit processes. This may lead to reduced manual effort and potentially more timely and accurate decision-making, while maintaining the standards required for accuracy and regulatory compliance. Eligibility for the AAIA is currently extended to those who hold an active CISA, CIA, or CPA certification. The content of the AAIA exam covers three main domains: AI governance and risk, AI operations, and AI auditing tools and techniques. Preparation resources include the AAIA Review Manual, an AAIA Online Review Course, and a Questions, Answers, and Explanations Database, all of which allow for a full year of access to support candidates preparing for the examination. ISACA points to recent internal research highlighting the growing urgency for AI-related skills within audit and digital trust professions. According to the data, 85 percent of digital trust professionals, including auditors, believe they will need to expand their knowledge and skills in AI within the next two years to maintain or advance in their roles. Additionally, 94 percent agree that AI skills will be important for professionals in this field. To support ongoing learning, ISACA has expanded its training offerings to include new AI-focused courses such as Introduction to AI for Auditors and Auditing Generative AI. An Artificial Intelligence Audit Toolkit has also been introduced to supplement professional development in this area. ISACA also indicated plans for additional AI credentials, including the Advanced in AI Security Management (AAISM) certification, to be launched in the third quarter. This qualification is expected to cater to information security managers and professionals holding credentials such as CISM and CISSP.

ISACA Introduces Certified Cybersecurity Operations Analyst (CCOA) Credential
From the creator of CISA and CISM comes a new certification providing cybersecurity analysts with experience-based learning to validate skills in responding to evolving cyber threats SCHAUMBURG, Ill., January 29, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ISACA's State of Cybersecurity survey report found that the two top factors for determining qualified candidates for jobs are prior hands-on experience (73 percent) and credentials held (38 percent). To help employers find qualified candidates and help cybersecurity professionals demonstrate their hands-on cybersecurity skills, ISACA has launched its Certified Cybersecurity Operations Analyst (CCOA) credential, which provides hands-on, performance-based labs that simulate real-world scenarios and leverage today's technologies. Advancing cybersecurity skills Cybersecurity professionals face a complex and challenging threat landscape, with 38 percent of organizations experiencing increased cybersecurity attacks compared to a year ago, according to the State of Cybersecurity report. And as emerging technologies like AI evolve, the role of the cyber analyst will only become more critical in protecting digital ecosystems. ISACA's CCOA focuses on the technical skills analysts need to advance their careers to the next level. Designed for cybersecurity professionals with a few years of experience, CCOA enables cyber analysts to gain a deeper understanding of how to identify and respond to cyber threats, perform vulnerability assessments, and provide guidance on industry best practices for securing assets—enhancing and validating their skills and knowledge to set them apart to future employers. Focused on both technical and regulatory readiness and addressing the latest cybersecurity challenges, from AI-driven attacks to regulatory compliance, CCOA covers these globally validated key domains: cybersecurity principles and risks; adversarial tactics, techniques, and procedures; incident detection and response; and securing assets. Valuable hands-on experience This experience-based component equips cybersecurity analysts with skills that can be used on the job, preparing them to tackle evolving cyber challenges and demonstrate their technical abilities effectively. "Cybersecurity professionals are often expected to have years of hands-on experience, even when they are early in their careers," says Shannon Donahue, ISACA chief content and publishing officer. "Being able to demonstrate to peers and prospective employers a mastery of on-the-job tasks, as well as a wide breadth of knowledge and experience in both business and technical skills, can give candidates a competitive advantage in a tighter job market and a boost in getting to that next step in their profession." Along with the CCOA online review course—which includes one year of exam prep access to allow for time to master skills—the related materials accompanying the new credential also include a Questions, Answers, and Explanations Database (QAE) and CCOA Review Manual (available both in print and digital formats). With a long history offering credentialing and training offerings, including Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), ISACA is committed to serving IT and IS professionals wherever they are in their career journeys. CCOA offers a step toward advancing in a cybersecurity career path, including pursuing CISM in the future. If choosing that route, CCOA exam passers earn a one-year educational waiver toward the CISM exam.
