Troy knocks ISU out of WNIT, 99-96
NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Shannon Dowell had a record-setting game Wednesday night. But it wasn't enough to get Illinois State to the title game of the Women's National Invitation Tournament. Dowell scored a postseason program record 37 points but Troy knocked ISU out of the WNIT with a 99-96 victory in the tournament semifinals at CEFCU Arena on Wednesday night. Brianna Pegura scored 28 points and led six Troy player in double figures. Troy will play Buffalo in the WBIT title game on Saturday. Nevaeh Thomas scored 15 points and Maya Wong added 13 for the Redbirds, who built a 10-point lead late in the third quarter.
