Rock star vibes: Sky home is ‘bold, luxurious, and unapologetically different'

A glamorous sky home complete with a cinema, sauna, marble-encased bath and hidden lingerie closet has hit the market with a $2.6m plus price tag. The party pad on the Gold Coast is described by Smith & Co director Shannon Smith as having rock star edge with its bold industrial styling. 'This isn't your typical white-on-white coastal apartment,' said Mr Smith. 'It's been designed for someone who wants to make a statement — it's bold, luxurious, and unapologetically different.' The boutique Broadwater sub-penthouse at 6/446 Marine Pde, Biggera Waters takes up the entire sixth floor of the boutique LUXE on Marine building. The three-bedroom 241 sqm residence has undergone a 12-month renovation to set it apart from the typical coastal home. 'This home will suit a discerning buyer — an executive couple, someone relocating from Sydney or Melbourne, or a local downsizer who still wants wow-factor and space,' Mr Smith said. 'It's luxurious, low-maintenance, and unlike anything else on the market.' The main bedroom includes a lavish primary suite with marble-encased bath, walk-in robe and hidden lingerie closet. '(The lingerie closet) is a mirror in the bedroom which is a push to open, and has a cupboard behind it,' he said. 'Inside it looks like a rack from Honey Birdette with beautiful hangers and every piece hanging up. 'It does seem odd to hear, but when you see it – it just makes sense. 'It would be a great hidden shoe/sneaker cupboard as well – whatever you treasure. 'The hidden aspect adds to the fun and glamour of the home.' The kitchen has premium Gaggenau appliances and a butler's pantry while the cinema has velvet-draped walls and tiered seating. There is also a 32sq m northeast-facing balcony that offers uninterrupted Broadwater views. Property records reveal the apartment last changed hands for $1.38m in 2012 while it was listed for rent in 2018 at $1050 per week. PropTrack data shows the median unit price in Biggera Waters is $700,000, up 10.9 per cent over 12 months.

Dozens rally in Perth CBD in solidarity with nationwide protests against Indigenous deaths in custody

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander readers are advised this article includes the name and image of a person who has died, used with the permission of their family. Dozens of people gathered in Perth's CBD for the third day of nationwide protests following the death of 24-year-old Kumanjayi White, who died in police custody in the Northern Territory last month. Mr White died after he was restrained on the floor of a Coles supermarket in Alice Springs. Perth rally organiser and Indigenous elder Hedley Hayward said the community was standing alongside the rest of the country in demanding justice. "In 1990 there were over 300 recommendations made for [preventing] Aboriginal deaths in custody, and it is still happening today … how many times is this still going to happen without something really being done about it?" Shannon Smith, whose 31-year-old brother Linton Ryan died in custody on April 2, joined protesters along with his mother and relatives. Mr Ryan was found unresponsive in his cell at Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, 600 kilometres east of Perth. In a statement, WA's Department of Justice said, "preliminary reports indicate there were no suspicious circumstances". Mr Smith said his family was still waiting for answers from the mandatory coronial investigation. "We just want answers and we want closure, and we just don't want to keep guessing what happened," he said. "We want them to not make us wait three years for answers — because they haven't given us an apology, they haven't put anything in writing. "We just want pressure on the prison and pressure on the police to give us answers." Mr Smith said he didn't want his brother to just be another statistic. "He's a human being, and if this happens to everyday people, they [would also] feel the pain and the ramifications behind it. "We just want them to have understanding and compassion for me and my mum, because it's really hurtful — and I'm struggling to stand on my feet to be strong for Mum." Perth's rally was officially opened with a traditional smoking ceremony, before several speeches were made by Indigenous elders and loved ones of those who have died in custody. It followed several other rallies held across the nation over the past three days, including in Alice Springs, Sydney and Brisbane.

Watch: Shannon Smith samples chicken restaurants across the Triad

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — Chicken chains are flocking to the Piedmont Triad. Four new fast-casual franchises opened this spring in Guilford County alone, and more are under construction. People have packed Dave's Hot Chicken on Battleground Avenue in Greensboro. The Los Angeles-based chain serves huge tenders and sliders. Customers can choose their heat level, starting at no spice and running all the way up to reaper, which comes with a disclaimer. Just across the street on Lawndale Drive, A Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken is under construction, and one is already open on North Main Street in High Point. Their menu is inspired by Nashville's Famous Hot Chicken. Again, you can customize your spice levels. The hottest one requires you to sign a waiver to try it. Also in High Point, off NC 68/Eastchester Drive, Slim Chickens opened, serving a variety of all-natural fresh chicken tenders and wings with a selection of sauces and seasonings. Finally, a chicken restaurant with international flair. Pollo Compero is a chain started Guatemalan in 1971. They specialize in fried chicken, empanadas and other Latin-inspired side dishes. FOX8 FOODIE Shannon Smith took a tasting tour of the four new franchises and shares her thoughts. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. New book shows to ‘beer hike' in North Carolina

(WGHP) — Go Beer Hiking across North Carolina this summer! That's the name of a new book featuring trails and nearby craft breweries in our state, as well as Virginia and DC. The book features 42 trails coupled with a brewery, including Hanging Rock in Stokes County. The authors paired it with the Lesser Known Brewery in Downtown Winston-Salem. The Haw River Trail in Saxapahaw is also featured because Haw River Famous Ales sit right at the end of the hike. Shannon Smith spoke with the author about how this book showcases two of the best parts of our state. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
