80 youngsters experience life skills with Sharjah Children
Diverse Activities to Develop Personal and Professional Skills The three-week camp featured a variety of activities and training programmes aimed at developing the children's personal and professional skills. One highlight was the 'My Country's Vegetables' programme, where the children learned about local agriculture in the UAE, focusing on palm, ghaf, and wheat crops. The programme aimed to instil concepts of sustainability and raise environmental awareness through hands-on practices such as planting, manual grinding, and crafting pots from palm fronds. Creativity Through Sewing and Woodwork In the 'I Create with My Hands' programme, children acquired fine sewing skills, becoming familiar with sewing tools and basic stitching techniques to make cushions and shawls of their choice. This enhanced their creativity and fine motor skills. To introduce woodworking skills using safe tools, participants took part in the 'My Wooden Project' programme, where they crafted wooden projects like tissue boxes, piggy banks, and puzzle games. Healthy Cooking and Artistic Expression Children also learned how to prepare healthy meals through educational activities combining cooking skills with hygiene and safety rules. In addition, the camp's workshops helped foster their artistic creativity in sculpture, shaping, and decoration. A Statement from Sharjah Children's Deputy Director Noura Al Shamsi, Deputy Director of Sharjah Children, said: 'During the Life Skills Camp, we were keen to provide children with valuable experiences that enhance their skills, broaden their horizons, and develop their personal abilities. Our collaboration in this camp with the Sharjah Police Academy, by involving participants from the Police Friends programme, reflects our efforts to prepare a responsible, aware generation equipped with the tools necessary to actively contribute to their community.'

Sheikh Sultan approves new rank for 1,232 government officers
In line with the directives of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the ranks of "Senior Assistant" and "Chief Assistant" have been abolished. New rank replacements have been approved for 1,232 personnel across various entities, including the Sharjah Police General Command, the Amiri Guard, the Sharjah Police Academy, and the Civil Defence Authority. Affected personnel have been reclassified from "Senior Assistant" to "Assistant Officer." The announcement was made by Major General Abdullah Mubarak Bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police. He stated that the decision took effect retroactively from March 26, 2025, the date of the law's issuance, with all financial and related matters adjusted accordingly. Major General Bin Amer explained that the decision was based on Law No. 1 of 2025, which reorganises the police and public security forces in the emirate, and its amendments. Additionally, Law No. 6 of 2025 amended Law No. 2 of 2021, specifically addressing the abolition of the ranks of "Senior Assistant" and "Chief Assistant," in the public interest. He noted that the elimination of these ranks streamlines the hierarchical structure within the security and police forces, enhancing operational efficiency. The announcement was made during the "Direct Line" programme broadcast by the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, hosted by media figure Mohammed Al Risei.
