Khorfakkan festival displays over 150 varieties of mangoes
Sheikh Saeed Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Chief of Sharjah Ruler's Office in Khorfakkan, inaugurated on Friday, the 4th edition of the annual Mango Festival 2025, which is taking place at Expo Khorfakkan. Held under the theme 'Mango: Our Fruit, Our Wealth,' the three-day festival is being organised by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), in collaboration with the Municipal Council of Khorfakkan and Khorfakkan City Municipality. This year's edition is the most notable to date, featuring the participation of more than 33 farmers and several companies specialising in agriculture and fertilisation. The festival also hosts delegations from Saudi Arabia, Oman, Pakistan, and Uganda. The opening ceremony was attended by Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI; Mohammed Saeed Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the UAE's Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE); Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Al-Murr Alnaqbi, Chairman of the Municipal Council of KhorFakkan; Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE; and Counselor Abdul Wahab Al Hammadi, Vice Chairman of the Khorfakkan Municipal Council, in addition to members and heads of municipal councils in Sharjah. Also present were Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of SCCI; Hussain Muhammad, Consul-General of Pakistan in Dubai and the Northern Emirates; Eng. Abdulrahman Abdullah Al Naqbi, Director of Khorfakkan Municipality; and Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for Communication and Business Sector at SCCI. Also in attendance were Khalil Mohammed Al-Mansouri, Director of Expo Khorfakkan; Dr. Syed Muhammad Tahir, Chairman of the Pakistan Business Council; and Dr. Mohammed Khalfan Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Annual Khorfakkan Mango Festival; along with directors of federal and local government entities in Khorfakkan. After the inauguration, Sheikh Saeed, accompanied by the attendees, toured the festival exhibition, where farmers from across the UAE showcased over 150 varieties of mango. He was also briefed on Khorfakkan and the Eastern Region's key agricultural products, demonstrating the significant progress in mango cultivation as well as the sector's increasing relevance as a key economic driver for Sharjah. In his remarks, Abdallah Sultan Al Owais stated that the Mango Festival has made a significant leap by attracting international participation, facilitating the exchange of the best global practices in mango farming. 'Our goal this year is to bring the theme 'Mango: Our Fruit, Our Wealth' to life by equipping farmers with innovative tools, encouraging the adoption of smart and sustainable agriculture, and moving from simply increasing output to improving product competitiveness in the market,' he added. For his part, Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Al-Murr Alnaqbi highlighted the Municipal Council's commitment to supporting local farmers, promoting eco-tourism, creating new job opportunities for youth, and advancing traditional industries and artisanal crafts that define Khorfakkan's unique identity. Khalil Mohammed Al Mansouri noted that the Mango Festival encourages a new generation of agricultural entrepreneurs to carry forward their forefathers' legacy using innovation and future-ready tools. He affirmed that the festival has succeeded in attracting interest from beyond the UAE, strengthening Khorfakkan and the Eastern Region's position as a unique agri-tourism destination. This proves that cultural preservation can serve as a strong catalyst for sustainable growth and economic development. This year's edition of the Mango Festival features the participation of several leading agricultural companies that showcases their latest innovations and technologies, in addition to the strong presence of local farmers and productive families. It offers visitors the opportunity to purchase premium mango seedlings and other agricultural plants, while also providing insights into the diverse applications of mango fruit. This edition is held in collaboration with key strategic partners, including the Kalba-based Al Sharqiya TV, the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), the Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH), Bee'ah, and the Department of Social Services.

Sharjah Crown Prince receives leader of Dawoodi Bohra community
Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, received, on Tuesday, Dr Sultan Mufaddal Saifuddin of the Dawoodi Bohra community, along with his accompanying delegation, at the Sharjah Ruler's Office. At the start of the meeting, attended by Sheikh Majid Bin Abdullah Bin Majid Al Qasimi, Director of the Department of Government Relation, the Crown Prince warmly welcomed Dr Sultan Mufaddal Saifuddin. He conveyed the greetings of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to the Sultan of the Bohras. Earlier, His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, received Sultan Mufaddal Saifuddin of the Dawoodi Bohra community at his palace in Saqr Bin Mohammed City. The meeting discussed a number of humanitarian and social topics and highlighted the importance of supporting charitable initiatives and sustainable humanitarian projects, as well as promoting the concepts of religious tolerance and coexistence among different sects and religions. For his part, Mufaddal Saifuddin expressed his deep gratitude to Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi for the warm reception. In April, His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, received Prince Dr Husain Burhanuddin, son of the Sultan of the Dawoodi Bohra community, along with his accompanying delegation. The meeting took place at the Ruler's Court in Ajman, in the presence of Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of Ajman Executive Council. Sheikh Humaid warmly welcomed Prince Husain and his delegation, emphasising the UAE's commitment — under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan — to fostering mutual respect and understanding among cultures and nationalities as foundational pillars for sustainable security, stability, and social peace. The Ruler of Ajman praised the contributions of the Dawoodi Bohra community members, highlighting their positive role in promoting values of goodwill, tolerance, and cultural and religious pluralism. In a separate development, Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), chaired the council's meeting on Tuesday. The meeting was held at the Sharjah Ruler's Office, in the presence of Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Vice Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council. The council discussed several topics related to monitoring the performance of government departments and implementing the plans and public policies of the Emirate of Sharjah, aiming to provide the best services to communities across various sectors. The Council reviewed a report on the services provided by Sharjah museums to visitors across the cities and regions of the Emirate. The report detailed how the museums operate in conveying and documenting historical, cultural, heritage, artistic, and Islamic information, in addition to offering an educational and entertaining experience targeting all age groups from children to adults. It also examined the annual report for the Endowment Trusts Account for the year 2024, highlighting the most notable achievements and initiatives carried out. The report showed growth in assets, revenues, and donations to various endowment projects, alongside the completion of a number of endowment projects that reinforced the position of endowment as a sustainable developmental tool. The Council was introduced to key figures and statistics from the report, including the income statement for the endowment trust account, the income statement for wills and endowment deeds, endowment projects implemented during 2024, endowment assets, the entities benefiting from endowment implementation inside and outside the country, and endowment investment. Sheikh Salem Al Qasimi opens Emirates Fine Arts Society exhibition
On Tuesday evening, Sheikh Salem Bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ruler's Office, officially opened the 40th annual exhibition of the Emirates Fine Arts Society (EFAS) at the Sharjah Art Museum. The exhibition stands out as a significant annual highlight in Sharjah's cultural calendar, providing a glimpse into the development of fine arts in the UAE. This event showcases both personal and communal artistic journeys, positioning itself as a significant cultural milestone within the local and regional visual arts landscape. Sheikh Salem, while touring the exhibition, explored a diverse array of artworks created by the participating artists. The works span various mediums, including photography, installation art, painting, sculpture, oil, watercolour, acrylic, and ceramics, showcasing the rich diversity found in contemporary and modern artistic styles. Salem Bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi views an exotic exhibit after opening the Emirates Fine Arts Society exhibition. The exhibition showcases a vibrant visual landscape that illustrates the evolution of the fine arts movement in the UAE and the wider region, solidifying Sharjah's status as a prominent cultural and artistic centre. During the visit, Sheikh Salem was provided with comprehensive insights from the artists regarding their creations and artistic methods. The variety of artistic presentations highlights the importance of the Society's annual exhibition, which, now in its fourth decade, has been essential in supporting artists and displaying their work, solidifying Sharjah's status as a lasting hub for the arts both locally and internationally. The exhibition strengthens Sharjah's status as a prestigious cultural hub in the region. This year's edition is organised by the Emirates Fine Arts Society in partnership with the Department of Culture, the Sharjah Museum Authority, and the Sharjah Art Foundation. The exhibition showcases 50 participating artists from the UAE, including trailblazers of the Emirati fine arts movement, alongside artists from various Arab nations and several international countries. The works chosen by a specialised committee, which includes artists Khalil Abdulwahid, Dr. Karima Al Shomely, Salma Al Marri, and Dr. Mohammed Yousif (chairman of the society), create a dynamic artistic tapestry that connects tradition with experimentation.
