The official added that the boy arrived in Thodupuzha by bus on Tuesday evening and was subsequently taken home by Shashikumar. Police noted that they would gain a clearer understanding of the events after taking a detailed statement from the boy. Shashikumar told police he did not inform authorities about the boy's presence because the child had asked him not to. No case has been registered at the Thodupuzha police station in connection with the incident as police said that further action against the man will be determined by the boy's detailed statement. The boy is believed to have left school on his own after being inspired by YouTube reels showcasing the area and had travelled alone to explore the child, who disappeared from a school under the Elamakkara police station limits on Tuesday, was located in the company of a local man posing as a palmist. Police register 28 cases against anti-social elements based on social media activities
The Hubballi-Dharwad Police have begun acting against social media account holders who are indulging in activities that threaten to disrupt law and order and create fear among the general public and so far, registered 28 cases in different police stations. Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar told presspersons in Hubballi on Wednesday that they initiated action after it came to their notice that some rowdy elements are using social media accounts to disturb societal health. 'In the 16 police stations in the twin cities, we have set up a social media monitoring cell having two technical staff who will keep vigil over social media accounts. After verifying activities and posts of various social media accounts for 15 days, 28 cases have been registered against those account holders who violated guidelines. In all, we are keeping a watch over 700 social media accounts and 58 history sheeters have been warned,' he said. The social media posts included hurting religious sentiments, communalising events, posts inciting violence, making videos violating traffic guidelines, celebrating birthdays with lethal weapons and others. Mr. Shashikumar said that they will book further cases on the advice of legal experts. Names to be removed Replying to a query, the Police Commissioner said that they are revising the list of history sheeters. Of the total 1,862 names in the history sheets, 1,701 are under regular monitoring. 'The plan is to drop around 250 to 300 names after properly verifying their activities and conduct and the process will take around two months,' he said. He clarified that there are several people in the list of history sheeters who have crossed the age of 60 and some of them are sick, while others have maintained a clean record by not getting involved in any criminal activity for the last 10-15 years. 'In fact, a few of them have passed away while a few others are absconding. As many as 1,158 history sheeters have given undertaking and we have externed 52 history sheeters from the district,' he said and added that cases will be filed under the provisions of Goonda Act against history sheeters if they proved to be dangerous to society.

28 cases filed for inciting fear on social media
Hubballi: Police commissioner N Shashikumar has said they have been keeping a watch on rowdy sheeters who are using social media for their many as 28 separate cases were registered at 15 police stations across twin cities, targeting 58 rowdy sheeters and taking down 700 social media accounts, Shashikumar said here on Wednesday. Cases were registered for inciting fear on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. In some of these cases, they will take action to arrest the individuals took action against 1,700 rowdies by classifying them as A, B and C. They already wrote bonds against 1,158 people as a precautionary measure and issued deportation orders against 52 people, he said they took action against those using sword and other weapons for personal glory. These individuals are trying to lure young people into the world of crime and create an atmosphere of fear by gathering supporters in protests and religious programmes. They are attempting to instil fear among students on school and college said child protection is not only the responsibility of departments but everyone's responsibility. Recently, a girl died due to sexual assault. In April 2023, in a case where a 26-year-old man raped a 7-year-old child, the Pocso court sentenced him to 5 years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs 15,000. A cash reward of Rs 10,000 was given to the investigating officer and staff of Kasabapet police station in connection with the case.
