Bangladesh umpire Shathira Jakir Jessy set for historic Women's World Cup stint
Former cricketer Shathira Jakir Jessy is set to make history as the first Bangladeshi woman umpire to officiate in a senior World Cup. The 34-year-old will reach this milestone at the Women's ODI World Cup, which will be held in India starting September has previously officiated at several prestigious events, including the Under-19 Asia Cup, the Under-19 T20 World Cup in Malaysia, and the Women's ODI World Cup Qualifiers earlier this year in Pakistan. She also umpired during the Bangladesh Emerging Team's home series against South addition, Jessy officiated in the Women's Asia Cup last year, where she was part of the umpiring team for the final between India and Sri Lanka. Since making her umpiring debut in 2022, she has also officiated in the Legends League in India.

Having been successful in List 'A', international One-Day and T20 formats, Jesse now has the opportunity to showcase himself in a different light on the world making their second consecutive appearance in the World Cup, will begin their campaign on October 2 against Pakistan in Colombo.
