Dharmendra's mother stormed out of his film screening when he threatened a character with sexual assault: 'You can slap me after the film'

Bollywood actor Dharmendra's film 'Qayamat' created a stir. His mother walked out during the film's screening. She was upset by a controversial dialogue delivered by Dharmendra to Shatrughan Sinha. The dialogue involved a disturbing line about rape. Dharmendra tried to pacify her, explaining it was part of the script. The film had a star cast but did not do well. Bollywood veteran Dharmendra may be known for his macho image and action-packed roles, but even he couldn't prepare for the emotional fallout from one particular scene in his 1983 film Qayamat. In a rare and revealing anecdote, it was his own mother who couldn't bear to watch—and stormed out of the theatre mid-screening. The reason? A controversial dialogue that crossed the line, even for fiction. The Scene That Shocked His Mother In Dharmendra: Not Just a He-Man by Rajiv Vijayakar, director Raj N Sippy recalled a moment that deeply upset Dharmendra's mother. During a particularly intense scene in Qayamat, Dharmendra—portraying a character consumed by rage—delivered harsh lines to Shatrughan Sinha. The dialogue shocked his mother so much that she chose to leave the theatre, unable to watch her son say those words on screen. The Controversial Dialogue Sippy further revealed that the dialogue which deeply disturbed Dharmendra's mother was when his character, in a fit of fury, says to Shatrughan Sinha's character, 'Rape kya cheez hai main tumhein sikhaunga' ('I will teach you what rape is'). Shocked by her son delivering such a line, she walked out during the interval. Dharmendra, understanding her reaction, tried to calm her down. He explained it was part of the script and asked her to watch the film in its entirety before making a judgment. According to Sippy, the actor even said that if she still felt uncomfortable by the end, she was free to slap him. A Star-Studded Yet Forgotten Film Qayamat featured a star-studded cast including Shatrughan Sinha, Smita Patil , Poonam Dhillon, Jaya Prada, Shakti Kapoor, and Bindu. Interestingly, 1983 was also a landmark year for Dharmendra's family for another reason—his son Sunny Deol made his Bollywood debut with Betaab, opposite Amrita Singh . While Qayamat failed to make a mark, Betaab became one of the biggest hits of the year. On the work front, Dharmendra was last seen in Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem will next be seen in Ikkis.

Kussh Sinha On Nepotism In Bollywood: ‘Still Struggling To Prove'

Director Kussh Sinha recently spoke about the nepotism debate, and his comments might surprise you. Read the full story to understand his stance on the issue. Kussh Sinha, son of veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha, is all set to make his directorial debut with the upcoming film Nikita Roy, hitting theatres on July 18. In a candid conversation with Zoom, Kussh sparked controversy by stating that the backlash against 'nepo kids' is justified, citing the lack of acting talent among some industry newcomers. His bold opinion has reignited the debate on nepotism in Bollywood, making waves in the film fraternity. Despite being the son of Bollywood legend Shatrughan Sinha, Kussh Sinha's journey in the industry hasn't been without its challenges. In a heartfelt conversation, the Nikita Roy director shared his thoughts on nepotism, revealing, 'We've grown up like normal children. My father achieved everything on his own merit and hard work. We never wanted to ride on his coattails or leverage his fame to forge our own identities." Kussh also drew inspiration from his father's remarkable journey, noting that Shatrughan Sinha, an outsider who worked tirelessly to make a name for himself, serves as a role model for him. He aspires to carve his own path, just like his father did. Kussh Sinha, brother of Sonakshi Sinha, shared his candid thoughts on seeking fame and attention. 'I've never felt the need to seek paparazzi attention just for the sake of being seen," he said. 'Back then, I hadn't established my own identity, and I didn't think it was right to use my family name to get clicks. Today, if I'm being photographed, it's because I'm promoting my work, and that makes sense to me. But just posing for photos in designer clothes without any substantial work behind it doesn't appeal to me." When questioned about the nepotism debate and the public's growing resentment towards 'nepo kids' flaunting their wealth, Kussh Sinha offered a candid response. 'The backlash against 'nepo kids' is justified, in my opinion," he said. 'While some have undoubtedly earned their place in the industry, others are still struggling to prove their mettle as actors. It's natural for people to question why they're flaunting their wealth without having achieved anything substantial," he added. The highly anticipated film Nikita Roy boasts an impressive ensemble cast, featuring Sonakshi Sinha, Arjun Rampal, Paresh Rawal and Suhail Nayyar in pivotal roles. After facing two delays due to unforeseen circumstances, the movie is finally set to hit theaters. First Published: July 17, 2025, 11:39 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Shatrughan Sinha wanted to get plastic surgery done because of the scars on his face, Dev Anand stopped him: ‘Yehi tumhara signature style ho jayega'

Shatrughan Sinha who is known for a long list of movies like 'Mere Apne', 'Kaalicharan', 'Dostana', 'Kaala Patthar', 'Dostana', among others did not fit into the quintessential hero mode when he came in. He also looked quite different. But the actor managed to carve his own niche. In a recent interview, he has revealed that he even considered to fix his face which was quite unconventional. But Dev Anand stopped it. Sinha recalled it in a recent interview and revealed how the 'Guide' actor encouraged him to retain his individuality. He said during a chat with Curly Tales, 'Sapne toh bohot kuch the, par darr lagta tha ki ye kati-phati shakal lekar kaise actor banunga. Log kehte bhi the ki iss kati-pati shakal ka kuch karo… uss time par hota hai. Main toh chala bhi gaya tha, doctor se baat bhi kar li thi ki plastic surgery karwa kar isko theek karo… iska ilaaj karo. Aur unhone bola ki kar bhi denge. (I had big dreams, but I was afraid, how would I become an actor with such a scarred face? People would say, 'Do something about this scarred face.' At the time, I agreed. I even went to a doctor and asked for plastic surgery to fix it. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Secure Your Child's Future with Strong English Fluency Planet Spark Learn More Undo The doctor said it could be done).' He added further, 'Lekin Dev saab ke paas main gaya… woh mujhe bohot maante the… aur unhone kaha ki kabhi mat karna. Tumhari jo personality hai, tum jab kaamyab ho jaoge toh yahi tumhara signature style ho jayega. Unhone kaha ki dekho, mere daanton ke beech mein ek gaddha hai, aur maine aaj tak usse fill up nahi karwaya hai… aur log aaj usse yaad rakhte hain. Toh jo tumko tumhara minus point lagta hai, wohi kal tumhara plus point banega. (But then I went to Dev saab, he believed in me deeply, and he told me, 'Never do it. Your personality is unique. One day, this will become your signature style.' He told me, 'Look, I have a gap between my teeth, and I've never filled it… now people remember me for that. What you think is a minus today could be your biggest plus tomorrow).' Shatrughan Sinha and Dev Anand worked together in films like 'Prem Pujari', 'Gambler' and 'Shareef Budmaash'.
