Shaun the Sheep celebrates 30th anniversary
He is one of a kind... white, fluffy and a cheeky chap - can you guess who? It's Shaun the Sheep, of course!The mischievous sheep is a well loved character who made his debut back in 1995 in the Wallace and Gromit film, A Close forward to now, and not only is Shaun a global superstar but he is also celebrating his 30th anniversary! Who is Shaun the Sheep? Shaun the Sheep is a global superstar. His TV adventures are enjoyed across 170 countries, whilst he has over 5 million Facebook fans and 1.7 billion views on first came to our screens in Wallace & Gromit: A Close Shave! and since 2007 has had his own series on BBC is a cheeky sheep who is also leader of his flock. Whilst Shaun is smart and resourceful, his love of adventure is well known for getting him in trouble! The Making of Shaun the Sheep Shaun the Sheep's TV show and films are made at Aardman's studio in Bristol. Like Wallace and Gromit, Shaun is created using something called stop-frame animation. This is where objects are filmed frame by frame so that they appear to be moving when played back at normal takes a long time to make just one second of a Shaun the Sheep animation as it requires between 12 and 24 individual puppets in Shaun the Sheep are made from different materials but modelling clay is a key ingredient. Shaun the Sheep animators have boxes of spare heads, eyes, arms and other body parts incase any of the puppets need to be replaced or swapped each Shaun series and movie there are multiple Shauns used - in the Farmageddon movie 22 Shauns were used! Shaun has won lots of awards including two International Emmys and two Fletcher (aka CBeebies star Mr Tumble) is the voice of Shaun the 2022, Shaun was announced as the first 'sheep' to go into space! He was appointed the first woolly astronaut to join the European Space Agency, ahead of its Artemis 1 mission to the new series of Shaun the Sheep starts on Saturday 24 May on CBBC.

BBC and Aardman launch new series of Shaun the Sheep as beloved character celebrates 30-year anniversary
Produced by multi-award-winning independent studio Aardman, Shaun the Sheep is back for a side-splitting new series of the stop motion animation, with more madcap adventures from Shaun and the flock. The family favourite launches with a double episode 'Shirleyverse' on CBBC and BBC One at 3.30pm on Saturday 24 May, a heartwarming tale about learning to value a friend. Everything Shaun knows and loves comes into question, when he impulsively wishes away his pal Bitzer the dog. The new series is available to watch on BBC iPlayer from Saturday 24 May. Now in its seventh series, Shaun the Sheep follows the exploits of Shaun, the long-suffering, loyal sheepdog Bitzer and the flock at Mossy Bottom Farm. It features classic Shaun the Sheep scenarios – relatable, everyday situations with a rural twist – spun into comedy gold by the flock. Vocal effects are by CBeebies star Justin Fletcher (Shaun the Sheep, Timmy, the Pigs and Mowermouth) and comedian and actor John Sparkes (Farmer, Bitzer and Bitzer's Dad), with a theme tune sung by Vic Reeves. Director of BBC Children's & Education, Patricia Hidalgo, says: 'We're so proud of our longstanding relationship with Aardman, supporting British animation and bringing families more Shaun the Sheep adventures. As you would expect, the new episodes are brilliantly characterised and full of British humour, as we celebrate this very special anniversary year by bringing audiences together to be entertained by Shaun and his pals.' In celebration of the anniversary and as part of the special TV event, BBC One and CBBC will also air Wallace & Gromit: A Close Shave, Aardman's Academy Award-winning film which first introduced the character Shaun the Sheep to audiences in 1995 (3pm, Saturday 24 May, BBC One and CBBC). The Shaun the Sheep double episode at 3.30pm is followed on BBC One by the most recent Wallace & Gromit film, Vengeance Most Fowl (3.45pm, Saturday 24 May, BBC One) which became the most-watched programme in the UK over Christmas, demonstrating the appetite for British storytelling and the love for these iconic characters. On CBBC, viewers can watch the brand-new double episode (3.30pm, Saturday 24 May) followed by Shaun the Sheep back-to-back episodes (3.45pm) and Shaun the Sheep Movie (5.00pm). The new series is available on BBC iPlayer from Saturday 24 May and more episodes will air at 7am weekdays from Monday 26 May on CBBC. Shaun the Sheep series 7 was commissioned by Director of BBC Children's & Education, Patricia Hidalgo and Sarah Muller, Senior Head of Commissioning and Acquisitions 7+. Lucy Pryke is the Commissioning Executive for BBC Children's. WDR Germany is co-producer of the series. Aardman announces Halloween-themed Shaun The Sheep film
Animation powerhouse Aardman, which also creates the Wallace And Gromit films, has partnered with Sky and production company StudioCanal for the movie – Shaun The Sheep: The Beast Of Mossy Bottom. The animated sheep first appeared on screens 30 years ago in Bafta and Oscar-winning film Wallace And Gromit: A Close Shave. In 2007 the character got his own children's programme on CBBC, which has become one of Aardman's best-performing properties. The new film sees the residents of Mossy Bottom Farm looking forward to Halloween until the farmer trashes the flock's beloved pumpkin patch. Shaun tries to fix the problem but things soon spiral out of control and the farmer goes missing while a wild beast roams the woods of Mossingham. This will be the third stop-motion animated feature film about Shaun The Sheep after 2015's Shaun The Sheep Movie and 2019's A Shaun The Sheep Movie: Farmageddon. In 2021, Aardman released a 30-minute special, the International Emmy-winning Shaun The Sheep: The Flight Before Christmas. Andrew Orr, executive producer and head of originals for Sky Cinema, said: 'Shaun is a household name, so it's huge news for us to be welcoming him and the flock to our 2026 Sky Original film slate. Earlier in the year, the team behind Wallace And Gromit took home Bafta awards for best animation and best children and family film for their latest movie about the inventor and his loyal beagle – Vengeance Most Fowl. Further details about the Sky Original feature film, written by Mark Burton and Giles Pilbrow, will be released in due course. Sky is confirmed as exclusive UK distributor, releasing in cinemas and on Sky Cinema, alongside StudioCanal as global partner outside the UK.

Iconic Wallace and Gromit character lands spin-off movie – but there's a catch
AN Iconic Wallace and Gromit spin-off character has landed another spin-off movie. However, for fans hoping to see Wallace and Gromit following the success of their Christmas flick, Vengeance Most Fowl, they will be left disappointed. 4 Shaun the Sheep has landed his THIRD movie but there will be no appearances from the much-loved Wallace and Gromit. Aardman Animation has confirmed that Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom, is in the works for release this Halloween. The movie will be produced in association with StudioCanal with Sky on board as UK distributor. Teasers for the flick reveal that the residents of Messy Bottom will be looking forward to a spooky and fun-filled Halloween but the clumsy Farmer soon wreaks havoc and trashes the beloved pumpkin patch. Shaun will then try to help and will don his best mad scientist hat to come up with a solution. But things are sure to go awry when Shaun is involved. When things spiral, a wild beast will soon be roaming around the woodlands. Sarah Cox, the chief creative director at Aardman, said of the new flick: 'Shaun the Sheep is an iconic character, beloved by viewers of all ages around the world. 'In our new animated movie, we bring family-friendly thrills to this light-hearted, spooky Halloween adventure. "Expect smashed pumpkins, wayward science, and a wild hairy beast on the loose in Mossy Bottom – all delivered with the Flock's trademark joyous comedy.' The previous instalment's director Steve Cox will be back to direct the movie. StudioCanal's Anna Marsh and Ron Halpern added: 'We have taken such pride in establishing Shaun the Sheep and the flock as a cinematic must for audiences across the globe and in this – our third feature film in the franchise – we have a tantalising seasonal hook in Halloween with thrills, spills, surprises, a touch of science and characters old and new. Wallace and Gromit: Films and TV Series Beloved animated characters Wallace and Gromit made their first appearance in 1989. Over the following decades, they have become ingrained in popular culture and have won prestigious awards. Let's take a look at their extensive filmography. Films A Grand Day Out (1989): The pair's very first adventure, a short film which premiered at an animation festival in Bristol. It was broadcast on Channel 4 on Christmas Day 1990. It was also the first time that Last of the Summer Wine actor Peter Sallis voiced Wallace. The Wrong Trousers (1993): This second short film premiered in 1993 and introduced the villain Feathers McGraw. It won the Academy Award for Best Short Film. A Close Shave (1995): The duo's third short film which also featured the debut of Shaun, the future title character of Shaun the Sheep. Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005): The first feature-length Wallace and Gromit film, which featured the voices of Ralph Fiennes, Helena Bonham Carter and Peter Kay alongside that of Peter Sallis as Wallace. This film's critical acclaim included winning a number of awards, namely the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. A Matter of Loaf and Death (2008): The fourth Wallace and Gromit short film. This was a murder mystery which starred Peter Sallis, Ben Whitehead, Sally Lindsay and Geraldine McEwan. Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl (2024): The second feature length Wallace and Gromit film. It features the return of Feathers McGraw and is also the first full film performance for Ben Whitehead as Wallace. He previously shared the role with Peter Sallis in A Matter of Loaf and Death. TV series Wallace and Gromit's Cracking Contraptions (2002): A series of ten stop-motion animation shorts of approximately one to three minutes each. All ten shorts were aired on BBC One. Wallace and Gromit's World of Invention (2010): A science-themed miniseries and Peter Sallis' last acting project before his retirement. Sallis died in 2017, at the age of 96. 4 4

Clayface According to a new report from The Wrap, screenwriter Hossein Amini (Drive, Obi-Wan Kenobi) has been hired to rewrite Mike Flanagan's Clayface script at DC Studios. Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Deadline reports a third Shaun the Sheep movie is now in development at Aardman titled The Beast of Mossy. The sequel sees 'the residents of Mossy Bottom Farm looking forward to Halloween, until the clumsy Farmer trashes the Flock's beloved pumpkin patch. When Shaun turns to Mad Scientist to fix the problem, things rapidly spiral out of control as The Farmer goes missing and a wild beast roams the woods of Mossingham.' Pig Hill Deadline also reports Rainey Qualley, Shane West, Shiloh Fernandez and R.A. Mihailoff are attached to star in Pig Hill, 'a supernatural horror feature' from Willy's Wonderland director, Kevin Lewis. Based on Nancy Williams's 2019 novel Pig, the story concerns Carrie (Qualley),' a girl haunted by the mysterious disappearances of women in her small town [who] becomes embroiled in a dark tale of family betrayal. As she investigates the folklore surrounding the so-called 'pig people,' she uncovers a terrifying truth about her own brother, Chris (Fernandez), who has been has been hiding a sinister past since childhood. As she fights for survival in a twisted game of cat and mouse, Carrie and her friend Andy (West) realize that the legends of Pig Hill are rooted in a gruesome reality, ultimately leading to a violent confrontation that reveals the depths of madness and the lengths Carrie will go to reclaim her life.' The Creep Screen Daily reports Christopher Smith will direct a remake of his own 2004 film, Creep, starring Jasmine Jobson, Andy Nyman and rapper Aitch. 'Set in London's shadowy underground,' the new version follows 'a struggling artist (Jobson) forced to return to her criminal drug-running past.' Nyman isa said to play 'a captive well-versed in Creep's nefarious behavior,' while Aitch plays Natter G, 'a famous drill rapper with natural survival instincts.' Practical Magic 2 Practical Magic 2 is now scheduled for a September 18, 2026 theatrical release date, according to Bloody-Disgusting. Final Destination: Bloodlines During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Final Destination: Bloodlines co-director Zach Lipovsky revealed 71-year-old stunt performer Yvette Ferguson came out of retirement to be set on fire in the film, making her the oldest person to ever be set ablaze on celluloid. We lit so many different people on fire, including breaking the world record for oldest person on fire with Yvette Ferguson, who did that full body burn in the silver dress. That was the oldest person ever on fire, on camera. Meanwhile, a new featurette encourages you to see Bloodlines in IMAX. In the words of producer Craig Perry, 'when the aspect ratio changes, you know death is coming!'
