SheShakti 2025: Renuka Shahane, Shriya Pilgaonkar Open Up On Pay Parity, Admit 'It Exist'

Renuka Shahane and Shriya Pilgaonkar attended CNN-News18's SheShakti Mumbai edition on Thursday, when they opened up about pay parity in the film industry. The two actresses admitted that even though it has reduced now, the difference still exists.
'I was a character actor in films. That, in any case, is a huge parity between character actors and main actors. You must accept hierarchy with grace. You have to fight for what you think you are worth," Renuka said.
However, the veteran actress also explained that pay parity is less in the television world. She explained that it is simply because television is ruled by female actors.
Shriya Pilgaonkar also agreed with Renuka and added, 'A lot has changed for the better. You have seen love stories of women who are in a certain age bracket. The idea that there is a certain age bracket for an actor is also changing. Some battles like pay parity very much exist."
