The 10 best moments from Shakira's show at SoFi Stadium

After a tour postponement, a canceled festival appearance and a show called off at the last minute, Shakira finally made it to Inglewood's SoFi Stadium this week on a world tour behind 2024's 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran.' The album, which examines Shakira's breakup with the Spanish soccer player Gerard Piqué, was the latest in a decades-long series of hits for the 48-year-old pop star from Colombia; here she played to two capacity crowds peppered with folks wearing fuzzy wolf ears inspired by her old song 'She Wolf.' My colleague Sergio Burstein covered Monday night's concert en español, but I ventured to SoFi for Shakira's second performance on Tuesday. Here are 10 highlights from the gig: 1. It's been a big summer for the walk-out video. Like Morgan Wallen and Drake before her, Shakira made opening the show a production unto itself, with a camera following her from behind the scenes, pro-boxer-style, as she snaked through the audience in futuristic shades and a silver jumpsuit to take her place onstage. 2. Flanked by the members of a co-ed dance crew, Shakira moved through plenty of choreography Tuesday night, none more memorably than the very convincing robot she did during a mash-up of 'Las de la Intuición' and 'Estoy Aquí.' 3. OK, one equally memorable bit of movement: using the arms, legs and backs of several male dancers as a living stationary bike in 'La Bicicleta.' 4. As singles from Shakira's 'Oral Fixation, Vol. 2' LP, 'Don't Bother' was easily overshadowed 20 years ago by the chart-topping juggernaut that was 'Hips Don't Lie.' At SoFi, though, I much preferred the former, which she sang while jabbing at a sparkly pink electric guitar and which sounded like Courtney Love fronting Josie and the Pussycats. 5. Shakira performed 2009's 'Men in This Town' for what appears to be the first time ever on Monday — the result of a fan campaign on social media that urged her to haul out the song about the sorry state of dating in L.A. ('I went to look / From the Skybar to the Standard / Nothing took,' goes one brutal lyric.) She did the song again Tuesday in a bedazzled Dodgers cap as a pair of video screens showed images of Matt Damon, whom she name-checks in the tune as one Angeleno not meant for her. 6. For a salsa-fied version of 'Chantaje,' cameras followed Shakira back to her dressing room, where she sang — live or prerecorded, it was hard to tell — through a costume change and a bit of hair zhuzhing before she reemerged onstage. It's a clever set piece, which might be why Lady Gaga has a similar one in the Mayhem Ball tour she brought to the Kia Forum last week. 7. Shakira's strongest vocal probably came in 'Última,' a stark piano ballad she's said will be the last song she ever writes about Piqué. (The song is 'a cyst,' she told the New York Times, that required removal from her body.) Here she sang it while standing in a glittering mermaid gown that seemed to make it impossible for her to move — some kind of metaphor for the gilded cage of a celebrity romance. 8. Fuzzy, jangly, lightly contemptuous: 'Pies Descalzos, Sueños Blancos' is truly one of the great '90s rock songs. 9. Before closing the show with 'Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53,' her Latin Grammy-winning 2023 collaboration with the Argentine producer Bizarrap, Shakira reached back to start her encore with 'She Wolf,' which when you think about it is a pretty unlikely hit to have endured for a decade and a half: a creeping disco-rock thumper about lycanthropy — 'Darling, it is no joke / This is lycanthropy,' she sings — that's somehow become an anthem of self-empowerment. Indie sleaze lives. 10. Speaking of throwbacks, the Black Eyed Peas opened Tuesday's concert with a tidy run through some of their fondly remembered late-'00s stadium-rave jams, including 'I Gotta Feeling,' which introduced with a little speech about the band's love of L.A.'s Latino community. Said the guy known for his indefatigably cheerful music: 'F— ICE.'

Shakira brought the U.S. leg of her rescheduled Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour to downtown Phoenix on Sunday, June 22, 2025, for the first installment of a two-night stand at PHX Arena. When she announced the tour, Shakira promised tracks from her new album, 2024's 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran,' while also dusting off the highlights of her catalog of hits. And that's exactly what the superstar delivered in Arizona. The setlist featured five songs from that new release and several medleys of her older hits, reaching back to the '90s for 'Estoy Aqui,' "Pies Descalzos, Sueños Blancos' and 'Antología.' Other highlight ranged from 'Hips Don't Lie' and "TGQ" to 'Chantaje," "BZRP Music Sessions #53,' 'Waka Waka (Esto es África)' and 'She Wolf.' Shakira unleashes her She Wolf for historic S.F. concert

Shakira returned to the Bay Area for the first time in nearly seven years to reclaim her territory, but the She Wolf ended the night doing far more than that. The Colombian pop superstar packed Oracle Park on Monday, June 30, for her 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran' tour, making history as the first Hispanic artist to headline and sell out the home of the San Francisco Giants. More Information Oracle Park set list La Fuerte Girl Like Me (Black Eyed Peas) Las de la Intuición / Estoy Aquí Empire / Inevitable Te Felicito / TQG Don't Bother Acróstico Copa Vacía / La Bicicleta / La Tortura Hips Don't Lie Chantaje Monotonía Addicted to You / Loca Soltera Última Ojos Así Pies Descalzos, Sueños Blancos Antología Underneath Your Clothes Whenever, Wherever Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) She Wolf Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53 In a city known for its diversity but not always its representation, Shakira's feat was more than a concert — it was a cultural milestone. 'There is no better feeling than when a She Wolf is back with her pack,' she told the 35,000 fans at the stadium Monday, referring to her 2009 hit of the same name and the alter ego she adopted that represents a woman who embraces her wild, independent side. Indeed, Shakira leaned heavily into her She Wolf persona throughout the evening, which has taken on new meaning in the wake of her highly publicized divorce from Gerard Piqué, a Spanish former professional soccer player. Three hours before showtime, Live Nation announced the sellout, and a gracious Shakira took to social media in excitement. She even invited fans to gather by boat in McCovey Cove to enjoy the show from the bay since no seats were left available. And yet, the chairs stayed empty through the night as Shakira had her pack on their feet from 'La Fuerte' all the way to her closing number, 'Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53,' during her two-hour performance that pulled from three decades of hits. 'It's amazing to see the stadium so full on the last day of such a significant month to celebrate love and freedom and the bravery of so many who raise their voices every day,' Shakira said, acknowledging the last day of Pride Month. 'The world is so much better when we're living with respect, with truth and with pride.' Shakira's words drew roaring cheers, and from there, she wasted no time turning that spirit of unity into a full-scale bilingual journey that commemorated both her Latina roots and global crossover success. Visually, the show attempted to construct a narrative of the She Wolf's evolution, set against a backdrop of artificial intelligence-generated landscapes. But the digital effects looked generic and underdeveloped, at times becoming a distraction. Thankfully, Shakira more than made up for the visual blemishes. Her performance of songs like 'La Bicicleta,' 'Tortura' and 'Hips Don't Lie' had fans mesmerized. During 'Chantaje,' Shakira offered the audience backstage access via live video, as a camera crew followed her during one of her many costume changes. It was a production choice that added a touch of intimacy amid the stadium spectacle. She went on to showcase her versatility with her performance of 'Monotonía,' the bachata duet emblematic of her post-divorce era, and the merengue pulse of 'Addicted to You.' Later, Shakira slowed things down for 'Ojos Así,' a nod to her Lebanese heritage with her signature belly dancing, followed by acoustic renditions of early tracks like 'Pies Descalzos, Sueños Blancos' and 'Antología.' She then turned to some of her biggest English-language hits that solidified her international stardom, like 'Underneath Your Clothes' and 'Whenever, Wherever,' before, leading into the World Cup's official anthem, 'Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).' A massive inflatable wolf emerged from the stage while the jumbo screens throughout the stadium displayed Shakira's '10 She-Wolf Commandments,' a manifesto of self-love and strength. ' Mi gente está noche somos uno,' Shakira declared, which translates to, 'My people, tonight we are one.' Julio Lara is a freelance writer.

She-Wolf Romulus and Remus statue stolen in manor break-in

Thieves have stolen a large statue of She-Wolf with Romulus and Remus from a manor house following a break-in. Four large bronze statues including a pair of fawns and a bust of Antinous, Emperor Hadrian's lover, were stolen from Iford Manor, Wiltshire, in the middle of its jazz festival. Police have launched an investigation into the theft, which took place overnight on Thursday. The She-Wolf statue has stood on the Great Terrace for more than 120 years after it was cast from the original for Harold Peto, the Edwardian architect and garden designer whose family acquired the manor in 1899. The statue also provided the backdrop for the 2020 adaptation of The Secret Garden with Hollywood actor Colin Firth. William Cartwright-Hignett, the managing partner of Iford Manor Estate, told The Telegraph: 'My overwhelming sense is frustration and sadness, I'm angry on behalf of heritage and the place. 'This isn't just a theft from me and my wife, it is a theft from the manor and its culture. 'The She-Wolf statue is the essence of the whole garden. That is the thing that really galls me the most.' Mr Cartwright-Hignett, who was in the middle of serving lunch to the 45 people who had come to support the Jazz Festival on Saturday, added: 'We feel we are the guardians of this place, as were my parents before me. I can't help but feel I've failed in my guardianship. 'When we took over in 2016, we wanted it to be a haven to escape the day-to-day riggers. When that place is violated, it makes it very difficult.' He also speculated that the theft could not have been a two-person job because the statues are made from bronze. 'They have stolen these statues with the utmost care,' he added. 'If someone wants to put them in a layby and let us know, we'll come and pick them up.' Raising awareness on Instagram, the Iford Manor account said: 'Tragically this morning we woke up to discover that certain statues within the garden including our iconic She-Wolf with Romulus and Remus have been stolen in the night in the early hours of Friday morning in the middle of our jazz festival. 'We would urge anyone with any information to please contact the police, crime stoppers, or ourselves to try to return these iconic pieces to their homes where they belong.' Police have urged the public to come forward if they witnessed any suspicious activity in the area between 10.45pm on Thursday and 8am on Friday. Antique dealers and auction houses have also been advised to be vigilant.
