Dubai hosts 4th edition of World Police Summit, welcomes global security leaders
The 4th edition of the World Police Summit was held in Dubai, on Tuesday, inaugurated by General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior. Held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the three-day summit brings together over 300 speakers and security experts from more than 100 countries, along with 200 global law enforcement agencies and specialised technology firms. Also attending the high-profile opening were Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. In his welcome address, Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, called attention to the rising complexity of global crime, particularly in the cyber domain. He cited Interpol data showing more than 100 billion stolen personal and financial records were traded on the dark web in 2024 alone, marking a 42 per cent increase year-on-year. Ransomware attacks now account for roughly 25 per cent of global cyber insurance claims, WAM reported. Al Marri emphasised on Dubai police's commitment to future-ready law enforcement, highlighting key initiatives including the International Anti-Narcotics Forum (ANF), the Anti-Fraud Forum (AFF), the UAE SWAT Challenge, and the Police Innovation and Leadership (PIL) Diploma. These programmes reportedly have drawn participation from 110 countries, demonstrating the UAE's growing role as a global hub for security cooperation and innovation. Al Marri affirmed that community safety is a shared responsibility requiring cross-border cooperation and hopes that the summit would produce actionable recommendations to shape a safer, more prosperous future. A short film followed, spotlighting the record-breaking sixth edition of the UAE SWAT Challenge, which earned a Guinness World Record for the highest number of countries represented in a tactical competition, with more than 100 teams competing. Saif bin Zayed honours members of MOI Air Wing for saving 9 people
His Highness Sheikh Saif presented medals of professional excellence to the members, including pilots, navigators, and air traffic controllers, who contributed to the rescue and air search operation, saving the lives of nine Asians who were involved in an accident after their ship capsized near Al Hamriyah Port in Sharjah. This came as a rapid response from the Air Wing's medical and air crews, immediately upon receiving the report from the relevant authorities. They demonstrated proficiency and competence through rescue and support operations in the sea, using aircraft. The operation took two hours, including a meticulously executed search and rescue operation, with high efficiency and precision. The nine people were rescued without any injuries.

Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Chairman of Baniyas Sports and Cultural Club, met with the Baniyas Women's Team, after their third consecutive victory in the Mother of the Nation Jiu-Jitsu Championship meeting was attended by the team's technical and administrative staff, along with several members of the Baniyas Sports and Cultural Club's Board of Directors.H.H. Sheikh Saif congratulated the players and coaches on their efforts and this new achievement and urged them to continue training to compete not only in local championships but also to shine and elevate the UAE's presence on international platforms by representing the national in attendance were Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Chairman of the Club's Board of Directors; Brigadier Nasser Khadem Al Kaabi, Vice Chairman of Baniyas Sports and Cultural Club; Salem Nayef Al Kathiri, Chairman of the Club's Sports Games Company, and several club Baniyas Women's Team secured a total of 49 medals, comprising 24 gold, 15 silver, and 10 bronze. The team includes 64 players across five age groups, starting with the adult category for women, the under-18 category for young women, and junior categories for girls under 16, 14, and tournament showcased high technical standards, with Baniyas Club players delivering strong performances, demonstrating advanced skills, and proving their competence and training capabilities. It featured intense competition against other national teams, reflecting the progress of women's jiu-jitsu in the UAE. Baniyas Sports and Cultural Club continues to excel in jiu-jitsu for both genders, trains athletes to high standards, invests in emerging talent, and prepares players to represent the UAE in international competitions.
