Police are now tracking the suspects following public outrage after the video went viral online. The main accused, identified as Sheochand Bavaria, a resident of Dumra village, was seen in the viral video openly roaming the village with a rifle, targeting stray dogs. The footage shows him and another man on a motorcycle chasing and shooting the dogs at close range. An animal rights activist who posted the video on X wrote, 'Incident in Kumawas village, Jhunjhunu district, Rajasthan: Dogs were openly shot dead. The police administration remains silent, and the law has been blatantly violated. Please, the police must take immediate action." The activist also tagged the Rajasthan Chief Minister's Office, Rajasthan Police, and Jhunjhunu Police in the post. Responding to her post, Jhunjhunu Police replied that a search operation is underway and that legal action is being taken. 'In connection with the aforementioned case, the police station officer is searching for the suspect and taking further legal action," the comment read. Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Brijesh Jyoti Upadhyay confirmed that an investigation was launched on August 4 after the video went viral. A case has been registered under the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act, India Today reported.
