RCMP arrested an Edmonton man after seizing a loaded gun and more than 200 grams of meth east of Sherwood Park on July 24, 2025. (Supplied) RCMP say they seized a loaded gun and more than 200 grams of meth during a traffic stop last week. While the RCMP's Alberta Community Response Team was conducting patrols east of Sherwood Park on July 24, officers stopped a Range Rover. Police searched the vehicle and seized 207 grams of meth, 31 grams of psilocybin, a 9mm loaded and restricted handgun with ammunition. (Supplied) Following the investigation, a 49-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, driving while unauthorized and unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle. The man was bound by a firearms prohibition at the time of his arrest. He was remanded into custody and is to appear in court Wednesday.

The county says beyond all the fun, it's an opportunity for first responders to interact with people in a non-emergency situation. 'It gives people a chance to check out our vehicles and ask questions,' said Jennifer Tames from Strathcona County Emergency Services. 'It just gives people more of that one-on-one.' Sexual offender at large: Edmonton police

Edmonton police are looking for Prabhjeet Singh, a sexual offender who they believe is trying to flee the country before his court date. (Supplied) Edmonton police are warning the public of a sexual offender who is at large. Prabhjeet Singh was being monitored in relation to an incident involving a minor in May. Police say he removed his ankle bracelet that was monitoring him and are concerned he may try to flee the country before his court date on July 29. The 21-year-old's last known location was in a rural area around Range Road 195 near Sherwood Park on Sunday. Singh is 6 feet tall and weighs 173 lbs. He has black hair and brown eyes. Police say the man has ties to India and may be trying to make his way there. Anyone who encounters Singh is advised not to approach him and to contact police immediately. Anyone with information about Singh's whereabouts is asked to contact Edmonton police immediately at 911. Anonymous information can be submitted to Crime Stoppers.

Stolen Calgary jewellery found for sale in Sherwood Park; 3 arrested

Three Calgary residents were caught allegedly trying to sell stolen gold jewellery and precious metals in Sherwood Park earlier this month. According to Mounties, a worker recognized the trio on July 9 from an industry bulletin about the items, which had been stolen in Calgary three days earlier. All three were arrested and face multiple charges. They were released and are due to appear in court in Sherwood Park on Aug. 13. Police say a 'large quantity' of stolen items was recovered.

22-year-old arrested with nearly 3 kilograms of cocaine in drug trafficking bust

A drug bust in west Edmonton led to the arrest of a 22-year-old man on July 16, 2025. (Source: Alberta RCMP Community Response Team) An Edmonton man is facing multiple charges after a one-week drug trafficking investigation found almost three kilograms of cocaine, eight grams of methamphetamine and over 200 oxycodone tablets in his possession. On July 16, the Alberta RCMP Community Response Team searched a residence in west Edmonton, a storage locker in Sherwood Park and a car, also in Edmonton. It was there that they seized the drugs as well as $65,810 and 'numerous' cell phones. In a release Tuesday, RCMP said the 22-year-old was arrested on charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000 and breaching a release order. The man was on a release order from a previous charge that involved possession for the purpose of trafficking in February. He was held for a bail hearing and brought into custody. He's set to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Sherwood Park Wednesday.
