Jagadish Shettar says internal conflict is weakening Congress govt. in State

'All is not well with the Congress government in Karnataka. Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar is making all efforts to become the mid-term Chief Minister. Such internal conflict is weakening the party and the government,' BJP MP Jagadish Shettar said in Hubballi on Sunday. He told reporters that Mr. Shivakumar left the stage after finishing his speech at the Sadhana Samavesha programme in Mysuru, indicating that everything is not right within the government. 'It is obvious that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is feeling insecure. Such infighting between leaders will lead to a situation where the Congress government will not complete its full term,' Mr. Shettar said. 'There is no proper governance and the law and order situation has deteriorated in the State,' he said. Mr. Shettar said that the Chief Minister's offer of releasing ₹50 crore for development works in each constituency is not sufficient. 'Similar grants in the past were in the range of ₹100 crore to ₹200 crore. That has been reduced. The announcement has been timed to see that it is made just before the monsoon session. This is only to see that MLAs do not create noise during the session. This is just for show. I also think that it is being done at the direction of AICC general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala who has become the 'super CM'. This is not acceptable,' Mr. Shettar said.

Several dissatisfied Congress MLAs are keen to join BJP, says Shettar

As the episode of alleged corruption in housing allotments took a serious turn with a ruling Congress MLA threatening to quit, the BJP mounted an attack at the Congress government, while its MP and former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar predicted the collapse of the government claiming that a slew of Congress MLAs were keen to join the BJP. 'This government will not stay for long. It will fall, as Congress MLAs are upset with their party's government. A lot of Congress MLAs, including Kagwad MLA Raju Kage, want to join the BJP,' Mr. Shettar told reporters in Belagavi on Monday, while responding to Mr. Kage's statement that he was so upset with the slow pace of development work in his constituency that he might resign. Mr. Shettar clarified that the BJP was not planning any 'Operation Lotus' to engineer defections from the Congress, but the Congress MLAs were volunteering to change their political loyalty. Meanwhile, BJP veteran leader B.S. Yediyurappa told presspersons in Bengaluru that it was not just Mr. Kage who was upset with the government and wanted to quit. 'There are several other Congress MLAs who are upset with their government. Each of them are going to voice their dissatisfaction. You just wait and see,' he said. Referring to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asking senior Congress MLA B. R. Patil to meet him to seek clarification on his allegations of corruption in allotments under housing schemes, Mr. Yediyurappa said the BJP was concerned that the Chief Minister may tried to silence Mr. Patil. He accused the Congress government of trying to prevent senior leaders and prominent personalities from speaking out against it by issuing threats. Mr. Yediyurappa said he would not only hold meetings of BJP workers, but would also tour the State to create public awareness about the government's alleged misdeeds. Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly R. Ashok launched a scathing attack at Mr. Siddaramaiah by asking him to protect the dignity of the State by tendering resignation to his post.

"Congress govt do it just to gain Muslim votes": BJP's Jagadish Shettar after increase in housing reservation for minority

Hubballi (Karnataka) [India], June 20 (ANI): BJP MP Jagadish Shettar on Friday accused the Congress of playing appeasement politics to secure Muslim votes after the Karnataka government decided to increase housing reservation for minority communities from 10 per cent to 15 per cent. Speaking to ANI, Shettar said, 'From the beginning, whatever is possible, the Congress govt does it just to gain Muslim votes -- that's why they indulge in appeasement politics. First, they announced a 4 per cent reservation in contracts, which has now been challenged in court and is pending. Now, they're giving reservations in housing allotments...' But BJP MP Shettar slammed the move, calling it politically motivated. 'Limited appeasement is one thing, but this is excessive. The Congress party has only survived because of Muslim support,' Shettar added. He also warned that such decisions could backfire for the ruling party. 'Due to all these appeasement policies, the time will come when the Congress govt will collapse,' he said. Earlier in the day, Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra strongly criticised the state cabinet's decision to increase reservation for minorities under various housing schemes from 10 per cent to 15 per cent, calling it appeasement politics by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Congress government. Speaking to ANI, Vijayendra said, '...Chief Minister Siddaramaiah can stoop to any level to appease is of doing appeasement politics, they should stress on providing education to the is not against minorities, but is against anti-national will take up this issue in the assembly and also hit the streets.' Vijayendra questioned the Congress's claim of following Ambedkar's ideology, saying, 'Congress leaders, including CM Siddaramaiah, repeatedly claim they're champions of the Dalits... but this is not what people expect.' Union Minister Pralhad Joshi also condemned the move, calling it unconstitutional by referring to the Supreme Court's 'rejection' of religion-based reservation. Speaking to ANI, Joshi said, 'This is against the Constitution. The Supreme Court has also rejected a religion-based reservation. This reduces the quota for OBC, ST, and poor people from the general caste. The Karnataka government is doing the politics of appeasement. I condemn this. We will also approach the court against this.' On Thursday, the Karnataka Cabinet approved an increase in the reservation quota for minority communities under various housing schemes from 10 per cent to 15 per cent. (ANI)

Belagavi hosts ‘Vision Karnataka 2025' expo

Belagavi: A three-day mega exhibition titled 'Vision Karnataka 2025', showcasing central govt schemes and development initiatives, was inaugurated on Wednesday by Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar at the KLE Centenary Convention Centre. The opening day attracted more than 5,000 students and the public. Organised by Delhi-based Prayass Events and Exhibitors under the leadership of Shettar, the exhibition features nearly 60 stalls representing central govt departments and public sector undertakings, including Reserve Bank of India, Defence Research and Development Organisation and Bureau of Indian Standards. MP Shettar echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, saying he has a similar development roadmap for the Belagavi Lok Sabha constituency. Shettar announced his plans to push for the establishment of a public limited company focused on defence manufacturing in Belagavi. He highlighted that around 700 acres of revenue land, currently under defence possession despite the expiry of its lease, could be utilised for this purpose. "I will meet defence minister Rajnath Singh to request the allocation of this unused land," Shettar said. Belagavi (South) MLA Abhay Patil and former Rajya Sabha member Prabhakar Kore hailed the exhibition as a 'knowledge fair,' urging students to take full advantage of the rare opportunity to learn about national development efforts. Kore said this was the first time such a type of exhibition was organised in Karnataka. Vision Karnataka exhibition showcases Centre's achievements in 11 years

BJP MP Jagadish Shettar inaugurated Vision Karnataka-2025, an exhibition showcasing the achievements of the 11-year-rule of the Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre in Belagavi on Wednesday. Mr. Shettar said that the country has made great strides in various areas to emerge as a world leader. 'Before the BJP-led NDA government came to power at the Centre, there were 34 crore extremely poor people in the country. But now, that number has come down to 7.5 crore. India, which was ranked 12th or 13th in the world economy, has now risen to be in the fourth place. In a few years, it will become the third largest economy in the world. All this shows the targeted hard work by various departments. This is among the achievements of ambitious schemes formulated by the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,' Mr. Shettar said. He said that he has appealed to the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to start defence-related industries in North Karnataka. There is a lot of land belonging to the Defence Ministry in Belagavi. 'I urge the Defence Minister to formulate a plan for setting up industries to manufacture defence-related products in such unused land,' he said. Mr. Shettar opposed the move by the State government of not allowing PM Jan Aushadhi Kendra medical shops selling unbranded medicine on the premises of government hospitals. He said that it showed the non-cooperation of the Congress government in implementing Central schemes. Representatives from over 50 Union Ministries and public sector undertakings are participating in the three-day exhibition under way at the Centenary Convention Hall in KLE Society's Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College. The event is being organised by Prayas Exhibitions and Promotions. Students from various schools and colleges, researchers and the general public enthusiastically visited the exhibition. Models displayed by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Indian Agricultural Research Institute and other organisations attracted students. Officers were seen informing them about the implementation of various schemes of the Union government, the financial options available through banks to avail of them and the entrepreneurial opportunities. The former Rajya Sabha member Prabhakar Kore said that it is a matter of pride that the exhibition is being organised in Belagavi. MLAs Abhaya Patil and Arvind Bellad, Deputy Mayor Vani Joshi, the former MP Mangala Angadi, the former MLAs Vishwanath Patil and Sanjay Patil and leaders like M.L. Muttennavar, Subhash Patil Geeta Sutara and others were present. Sunita Desai anchored the event.
