Nitin Gadkari to inaugurate Ratu road flyover next month: Seth

1 2 Ranchi: The inauguration of the Ratu Road flyover has been postponed to July 3 against its original scheduled launch on June 19 due to unavailability of the Union road transport & highways minister Nitin Gadkari , Ranchi MP and Union minister of state for defence Sanjay Seth announced on Tuesday. The 4.18km long corridor is built by NHAI at a cost of Rs 291 crore. "It links NH- 23 on the Pandra side to NH- 75, with two lanes on one end and four lanes on the other. It includes bulletproof and soundproof barriers throughout, plus extensive plantation along the route," flyover's site manager Anand Kumar said. Once operational, the flyover will end traffic congestions on Ratu road. Politicking over naming the flyover has picked up pace before its launch. The JMM led INDIA bloc and the opposition camp, led by NDA have proposed various names and social and cultural outfits have also joined the bandwagon. While JMM and Congress demanded that the flyover be named after former chief minister Shibu Soren. Likewise, the BJP wants the flyover to renamed after a freedom fighter or legendary national figure. JMM general secretary Vinod Pandey said, "Naming the flyover after Shibu Soren will be a fitting tribute to his struggle for separate Jharkhand. Their representative Abhijeet Dutta said, "To acknowledge his vision for a unified India, this landmark should carry his name." Kesharwani Vaishya Samaj has demanded the govt to name it after Bishweshwar Prasad Kesari, leader of the Jharkhand movement, educationist and historian while Rashtriya Yuva Shakti, a social outfit, on Tuesday at a press meet urged the govt to name it after martyr Abhishek Kumar Sahu, who sacrificed his life in service of the nation in Leh-Ladakh on Oct 28, 2020.
