Bengaluru road rage: Biker assaulted me first, Wing Commander tells police
Bengaluru: The 40-year-old Wing Commander who allegedly assaulted a biker in east Bengaluru in the early hours of April 21 appeared before Byappanhalli police Sunday and gave his statement about the attempt-to-murder case booked against him. When police questioned Shiladitya Bose about uploading a video on his social-media account attributing the incident to a Kannada issue, Bose told police he realised his mistake and deleted the video after it went viral. According to a senior police officer, Bose said the incident occurred because of alleged reckless riding by the biker, Vikas Kumar SJ , 26, who almost hit the Wing Commander's car that his wife, Madhumitha Dutta, a squadron leader, was driving. Following the incident, the biker intercepted their car and started scolding him in the local language. In a fit of rage, the biker assaulted him, and in retaliation, Bose claims to have hit back. My job is in danger, says BPO employee Vikas Kumar after release on bail
Bengaluru: BPO employee Vikas Kumar, who was attacked by Wing Command Shiladitya Bose, is currently in danger of losing his job. Arrested and released on bail, Vikas has made a video saying 'my job is in danger'. Kannadigas have lashed out at Wing Command Shiladitya Bose, who made a false video about an accident case as a language issue. They have condemned his action and demanded his arrest. Following this, the wing commander's arrest has affected Vikas' work. The 10th ACMM court on Tuesday granted bail to Vikas Kumar, who was arrested in a case of assault on Shiladitya. Vikas Kumar, who released the video after getting bail, said, 'There was no fight over the language issue,'' he said, adding that the HR of the company he works for called and spoke, and most of his work is in danger.' He also thanked the Kannadigas and CM Siddaramaiah for supporting him and help-ing him get released when he was arrested in a false case. I am also grateful to the 'Namma Nadu Namma Aalvike' team who stayed at the station the whole night and stood in support,'' he said. The police have registered a case of assault against the Wing Commander. Kannada organisations have come forward to file a complaint regarding disturbing the harmo-ny. An FIR has been registered against Air Force Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose, who fatally attacked a Kannadiga biker and indulged in hooliganism, at the Baiyap-panahalli police station on various charges, including attempt to murder. Based on the complaint of the assaulted Vikas Kumar, the police are continuing their investigation against the car driver (Shiladitya Bose). It is learnt that Shiladitya Bose left for Kolkata on Monday itself. The police said that further legal action will be taken along with IAF officials in the case. Despite the evidence of CCTV footage related to the attack, Kannada organizations have objected to the police's move to omit Shiladitya's name in the FIR and only mention the car number and driver. ''On Monday morning at around 6.20 am on the Nagawara Palya main road, I was go-ing to give my friend's bike. At that time, the driver of a maroon-coloured Maruti Ertiga car (HR 51 BA8568) touched my bike. Later, He asked me why I touched his car. Dur-ing the verbal altercation over this issue, 'The car driver threatened me by saying I was in the Air Force, then suddenly attacked me, threw me down, strangled me, and attempted to kill me. He made my bike fall and threw away the keys. He bit my hand and injured me,' Vikas Kumar mentioned in the complaint.

Shiladitya Bose made derogatory remarks about Kannadigas, says CM Siddaramaiah
BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday said Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose, who attacked Vikas Kumar, a Kannadiga, following a minor issue related to their vehicles, made unwarranted and derogatory remarks about Karnataka and Kannadigas on social media, displaying conduct that is deeply disrespectful and inflammatory. 'Kannadigas are proud of their mother tongue, but they are not parochial or intolerant. It is not in our culture to attack or abuse others over linguistic matters. Karnataka has a long and proud tradition of embracing people from across the country, treating them with respect, and accepting them as one of our own,' Siddaramaiah said. The CM said that the inclusive spirit of this land is well documented in history. 'It is deeply regrettable that certain national media outlets, neglecting their responsibility and professional ethics, have amplified a baseless accusation by one individual, thereby casting aspersions on the dignity of the entire state. This has caused pain and anguish to every Kannadiga,' he said. Siddaramaiah urged all Kannadigas not to succumb to any provocation or emotion. 'Let us uphold the law and maintain peace. Karnataka is governed by a government elected by the people of this land, and it stands firmly for justice and dignity,' he said. The CM said that he has instructed the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner to take appropriate legal action against the individuals involved - irrespective of their position or rank. The State Government is treating this matter with the utmost seriousness and is committed to ensuring justice for the victim, he added.

IAF officer Shiladitya Bose booked for murder bid; CM Siddaramaiah slams anti-Kannada remarks
BENGALURU: In a twist to Monday's road-rage incident that snowballed into a language controversy, Bengaluru police have booked FIR against IAF Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose , charging him with attempt to murder and provoking breach of peace. The move follows a counter-complaint lodged by BPO employee Vikas Kumar, who was involved in a fisticuff with Bose when the latter was being driven by wife Madhumita Dutta to a bus stop on Old Madras Road. Kumar, arrested on the basis of Madhumita's complaint that said she and her husband were abused in Kannada before being assaulted, came out on bail and released a video Tuesday stating allegations against him were false. CM Siddaramaiah Tuesday condemned the incident and took strong objection to Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose's unwarranted and derogatory remarks about Karnataka and Kannadigas. Don't succumb to provocation or emotion: CM to Kannadigas Describing Bose's statement as "deeply disrespectful and inflammatory", the CM stated: "Kannadigas are proud of their mother tongue, but they are not parochial or intolerant. It is not in our culture to attack or abuse others over linguistic matters. Karnataka has a long and proud tradition of embracing people from across the country, treating them with respect and accepting them as one of our own. This has caused pain and anguish to every Kannadiga. The state govt is treating this matter with the utmost seriousness and is committed to ensuring justice for the victim." The CM urged Kannadigas not to succumb to provocation or emotion and made an appeal: "Let us uphold the law and maintain peace. Karnataka is governed by a government elected by the people of this land, and it stands firmly for justice and dignity." The CM clarified that he has already instructed the city police commissioner to take appropriate legal action against whoever is involved in the incident regardless of their rank or position. "He (Wing Commander) attacked me and has given a false complaint against me citing language. Working in Bengaluru, I speak five different languages. What he has said is untrue. I'm on the verge of losing my job because of this," Vikas stated. Vikas recounted that he intercepted the MUV driven by Madhumita after it grazed his bike. He stated: "The person (Bose) sitting next to the driver's seat got down from the car and pushed my bike. When I fell on the road, the person claimed he was working in IAF, warned me not to play games with him, and assaulted me badly. When I took my phone to call a friend, the man bit me, snatched the phone and smashed it... He snatched my bike key and threw it. He tried to strangle me." Pro-Kannada activists gathered in front of Baiyyappanahalli police station and condemned the incident. IAF officials visited the station Tuesday and collected details to conduct a parallel probe.
