District Monitoring Officer assesses monsoon preparedness in Krishnagiri
District Monitoring Officer Shilpa Prabhakar Satish chaired a review meeting and ascertained the monsoon preparedness at the Collectorate in Krishnagiri. The Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation assessed the preparedness for the monsoon and the disaster management and relief capabilities under various departments.
Addressing the line departments, Prabhakar Sathish advised the officials to draw up plans for vulnerable areas and assess remedial measures for areas that were prone to flooding. The officials were instructed to inspect all water channels and arrange for desilting. The line departments were asked to coordinate with each other, assess the causes for inundation and draw up measures for water drainage.
Earlier, Prabhakar Sathish reviewed the various flagship programmes and schemes. She reviewed the number of petitions received under the Mudhalvarin Mugavari Scheme, the number of petitions processed and resolved, and the number of petitions that were pending before the respective departments. also reviewed the housing constructions under the Kalaignarin Kanavu Illam scheme, and instructed officials for periodic review of progress of constructions.
