District Monitoring Officer assesses monsoon preparedness in Krishnagiri
District Monitoring Officer Shilpa Prabhakar Satish chaired a review meeting and ascertained the monsoon preparedness at the Collectorate in Krishnagiri. The Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation assessed the preparedness for the monsoon and the disaster management and relief capabilities under various departments.
Addressing the line departments, Ms.Shilpa Prabhakar Sathish advised the officials to draw up plans for vulnerable areas and assess remedial measures for areas that were prone to flooding. The officials were instructed to inspect all water channels and arrange for desilting. The line departments were asked to coordinate with each other, assess the causes for inundation and draw up measures for water drainage.
Earlier, Ms.Shilpa Prabhakar Sathish reviewed the various flagship programmes and schemes. She reviewed the number of petitions received under the Mudhalvarin Mugavari Scheme, the number of petitions processed and resolved, and the number of petitions that were pending before the respective departments. Ms.Prabhakar also reviewed the housing constructions under the Kalaignarin Kanavu Illam scheme, and instructed officials for periodic review of progress of constructions.

Over 16,000 homes approved for RR under Indiramma scheme
Rangareddy: Urging officials to ensure the timely construction of Indiramma Houses approved in their operational areas, Rangareddy District Collector C Narayana Reddy stated that over 16,000 houses have been sanctioned so far in the district. The district administration, he added, is committed to benefiting all eligible people under the scheme, and accordingly, all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the timely disposal of applications. Addressing a recent video conference with officials on the implementation of the Indiramma Housing and Rajiv Vikasam Schemes at the Collectorate, the Collector instructed that the groundwork for sanctioned houses should commence immediately and be completed within a time-bound manner. 'The scheme should be implemented properly. There should be a supervision committee in every mandal, and prices of materials such as sand, bricks, and crusher stones, besides mason charges, should be decided,' said the Collector. Elaborating on the number of beneficiaries selected under the Indiramma Housing scheme in the district, the Collector said, 'A total of 16,617 houses were sanctioned to eligible individuals in the district. However, 839 applications are still pending disposal, which will be cleared after scrutiny.' As sand is being provided free of cost for the construction of Indiramma Houses, the Collector reiterated that it should be made available to all beneficiaries. Additionally, the Collector requested that the list of beneficiaries selected under the Rajiv Vikasam scheme be sent to the Collector's login. He stated that beneficiaries under the scheme should be granted at least Rs 1 lakh, to be released in June. Project Director DRDA Rangareddy Srilatha, along with BC and Minority Welfare officers and other senior officials, participated in this video conference.

Brochure on education mega fair released
Ongole: Prakasam district collector A Thameem Ansariya released the brochure of the Education Mega Fair 2025 scheduled to be held on June 12 at A1 Convention Centre here by the Brilliant Computer Education Institute, at the Collectorate on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, the chairman of the institute, Dr Shaik Nyamatulla Basha, said that they have been organising the Mega Education Fair for 21 years, to create awareness among the students and their parents on the options in engineering, medicine, and conventional degree programmes. He said that apart from the explanation of the procedure of web counselling, they also conduct career guidance and provide information on other special courses available for them. Nyamatulla announced that collector Ansariya, former DGP KRM Kishore Kumar, vice chancellors of prestigious universities, principals, directors, and professors from several well-known colleges, and officers from several banks will also attend the mega fair and clarify the doubts of the students and their parents. He said that the interested students and parents can get a seat in the institutions through spot admissions, or forward the application for the education loan at a special concession in the rate of interest.
