Rashmika Mandanna opens up about ‘crying for her off days', gets emotional about missing her sister's childhood

'I cry for my off days,' she confessed, her voice heavy with emotion. 'I have a sister who is 16 years younger than me; she's about 13 now. And in the last eight years, since I started working, I haven't seen her grow up.' Though Shiman is now almost her height, Rashmika has barely been present through the milestones. Work has not only distanced Rashmika from her sister but also from the comfort of home and friendships. 'I haven't gone home in one and a half years,' she revealed in the interview. 'I don't get to see my friends. Earlier, they would at least include me in the plans. Now they don't even do that. And that's the sad reality.' In Bollywood, she will appear with Ayushmann Khurrana in Thama, a horror-comedy touted as her biggest Hindi project yet, expected to hit theatres in October 2025. Rashmika will also reprise her beloved role of Srivalli in Pushpa 3 – The Rampage, which is scheduled for a 2027 release. Among her upcoming projects is The Girlfriend, a female-centric romantic drama directed by Rahul Ravindran, now in post-production. She also plays a leading role in Mysaa, a pan-Indian warrior film whose first look was unveiled in June 2025. Additionally, Bollywood Hungama reported recently that Rashmika is in talks to play the primary antagonist in director Atlee's upcoming action drama opposite Allu Arjun, although further details remain under wraps.
