Timely completion of energy projects top priority: secy E&P
PESHAWAR: KP Secretary Energy and Power Mohammad Zubair Khan has said that timely completion of the Bala Kot, Lawi and Gurkan, Mataltan, Gabral (Kalam) and Madiyan Hydropower Projects within the stipulated time frame is a major challenge. He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting here the other day. Besides the chief executive officers of Provincial Energy Development Organisation (PEDO), KP Oil and Gas Company and heads of Electric Inspectorate, Energy Planning, Additional Secretary Admin Shoaib Khan and Additional Secretary Power Anwar Khan Sherani, other senior officers also attended the meeting. He stressed on the need to complete the ongoing energy projects in view of the prevailing circumstances and to promote investment in these projects by immediately amending and revising the Power Policy 2016 and issued instructions to prepare work plans, timelines and activity plans to bring transparency in the projects. The secretary Energy and Power said that under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government's Good Governance Roadmap Programme, merit and transparency in institutions is the top priority. He said that the biggest challenge is to complete the ongoing energy projects in the Energy & Power department and all its subsidiary institutions within the stipulated time frame in the light of fast track. He said that In light of the directives of the KP chief secretary, it should be the duty of all officers and officials to conduct affairs under e-tendering, e-paid, one-window platform, which will be strictly monitored. Timely energy projects 'top priority'
Under the Good Governance Roadmap Program, ensuring merit and transparency in institutional matters remains the top priority. The biggest challenge in this regard is completing ongoing energy projects within the stipulated timeframe. In line with the Chief Secretary's directive, all officials must play their part in operationalizing e-tendering, e-payment, and one-window service platform. These views were expressed by Secretary Energy and Power Muhammad Zubair Khan in a meeting attended by the heads of PEDO, K-P Oil and Gas Company, Electric Inspectorate and Energy Planning Directorate regarding the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Good Governance Roadmap. Additional Secretary Admin Shoaib Khan, Additional Secretary Power Anwar Khan Sherani and other senior officers also attended the meeting. Meanwhile, the Secretary while emphasizing the strict implementation of the guidelines set for ongoing energy projects, said that currently work is progressing rapidly on Balakot, Lawi, Gorkin Matiltan, Gabral Kalam, and Madyen Hydropower projects. The Secretary added that timely completion of these projects within the stipulated timeframe is a major challenge.

4 pose as cops, steal Rs 5.5L from Turkmen woman in Gurgaon for treatment
Gurgaon: A 62-year-old woman from Turkmenistan — who was in the city to receive medical treatment at a hospital — was robbed of cash worth approximately Rs 5.5 lakh by four men posing as police officers at HUDA Market in Sector 52 on Saturday night. "Everything happened so quickly, she couldn't understand what was going on and the language barrier made it worse," translator Shoaib Khan through whom a complaint was filed at Sector 53 police station told TOI. Alimova from Lebap Velayat city in Turkmenistan, who stays at a guest house in Sector 52 along with her daughter Allakova, had arrived in the city on June 11 for treatment of a knee and rib condition at Artemis Hospital. Around 8.30pm on Saturday, the two were on an evening walk near the market when a small white car stopped in front of them. One person among the four accused stepped out of the car and introduced themselves as police officers. According to the complaint, the men claimed they were conducting routine checks and demanded to inspect their belongings searching for contraband articles. While engaging the mother and daughter in conversation, the suspects took $3,800 and 5,000 Turkmenistan manat from her purse — amounting to roughly Rs 5.5 lakh in Indian currency. The accused fled the scene soon after. A case has been registered under sections 3(5) (common intention), 303 (theft) and 318 (4) (cheating) of BNS. Police visited the spot and scanned nearby CCTV footage in an effort to identify the suspects. "We have been advising the foreign patients to be safe from such fraudsters," a police officer said, adding, "We recorded several cases where foreigners — especially women — were targeted by similar gangs pretending to be law enforcement officers," a police officer said.

Agripada bizman held for abetting wife suicide
Mumbai: A 27-year-old Agripada businessman was arrested on Saturday for abetment to suicide after his wife died falling from the 13th floor of her flat in Mazgaon in south Mumbai. The arrest came after the woman's ex-husband lodged a complaint alleging that just before her death she had sent him messages and called him alleging she was being harassed by her new husband, Shoaib Khan. Khan's lawyer, Saurabh Ghag, argued in the court that it was a false case. The court directed a DCP-level officer to monitor the probe. Agripada police arrested Khan after his anticipatory bail plea was withdrawn before Bombay high court. The complaint was lodged by 63-year-old businessman Hashmat Ali Haider Ali Khan, a resident of Mazgaon, who alleged that his ex-wife Gulshan Khan (44), died under suspicious circumstances on April 6, 2025. Just days before her demise, she made a series of calls and sent messages to the complainant in which she claimed harassment by Khan, his brother Zaid, and their mother Roshan. —Ahmed Ali
