Raksha Bandhan 2025: Every year, the festival of Raksha Bandhan, also called Rakhi, is celebrated with great love and joy across India. This special day falls on the full moon (Purnima) of the Shravan month and symbolises the strong bond between brothers and sisters. On this day, many devotees take a holy dip in sacred rivers like the Ganga and worship Lord Lakshmi Narayan. After the rituals, sisters tie a rakhi (a sacred thread) on their brothers' wrists, and in return, brothers give gifts and promise to stand by their sisters through good and bad times. The entire country celebrates this occasion with great enthusiasm. A Rare Alignment After Decades According to astrologers, Raksha Bandhan 2025 will witness a rare and powerful astrological combination — something that hasn't happened since 1930, according to Jagran. In simple terms, the day, nakshatra (constellation), full moon, and the ideal time to tie the rakhi will all align in almost the same way as they did 95 years ago. Performing rituals and tying rakhi during this unique combination is believed to bring double the blessings. However, Bhadra kaal — a time considered inauspicious for important rituals — will begin at 2:12 PM on 8 August and continue till 1:52 AM on 9 August. Since Raksha Bandhan should not be celebrated during Bhadra, the festival will be observed on 9 August this year. Sisters are advised to complete the rakhi ceremony within this window. After this period, the month of Bhadrapada begins. The full moon began at 2:07 PM and lasted till 4:27 PM. The Saubhagya Yoga began early on 10 August, and the Shravan Nakshatra was active till 4:41 PM. Bava and Balava karanas were also present, just like in 2025.
