The event, titled 'Raj Kapoor 100', was held at the iconic ICC Ashoka Hall and brought together the Indian diaspora in Qatar for a nostalgic evening of music, dance, and cinematic memories. This week's edition of the Wednesday Fiesta was particularly special as it celebrated 100 years of the legendary actor, filmmaker, and producer Raj Kapoor, whose impact on Indian cinema has been both profound and enduring. The performances reflected the multicultural essence of Indian arts and the enduring legacy of Bollywood in shaping cultural narratives across generations. Special visual presentations and a retrospective segment showcasing Raj Kapoor's cinematic journey further enhanced the thematic depth of the programme. Prominent dignitaries, community leaders, and members of the Indian diaspora graced the occasion. Among them were ICC Advisory Council Chairman PN Babu Rajan, ICC General Secretary Abraham K Joseph, and other members of the ICC managing committee. The presidents of other ICC associate organizations and senior community representatives also attended, lending their support to the celebration. In his closing remarks, ICC Vice President Shantanu Deshpande delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of all the performers, organizers, and volunteers who made the evening a resounding success. He extended special gratitude to the Embassy of India for its unwavering support and encouragement in promoting Indian culture abroad. The 'Raj Kapoor 100' edition of ICC Wednesday Fiesta not only celebrated the genius of an iconic artist but also underscored the enduring influence of Indian cinema in fostering unity, nostalgia, and pride among the Indian diaspora. The ICC continues its mission of cultural diplomacy by providing a vibrant platform for the expression of India's artistic richness every Wednesday, with the promise of many more such unforgettable evenings.

Meet actress who slapped Rishi Kapoor 8 times, actor wanted to take revenge with..., but then... , her name is..
Meet actress who slapped Rishi Kapoor 8 times, actor wanted to take revenge with..., but then... , her name is.. In the world of the film industry, many movies or dialogues stay with us and leave a lasting impression. Similarly, for artist, they have many anecdotes from the sets of the shoot which are carved deep in their memory, and mostly they all come from the moments that blur the line between acting and reality. To make a scene look authentic, sometimes actors have to go beyond rehearsed lines and choreographed movements to deliver scenes that feel raw, honest, and emotionally real. These moments, though challenging, often become stories in themselves—about commitment, pain, and trust between co-stars. Owning a lineage in the industry for decades, the Kapoor family has a powerhouse of talent who are associated with impressive storytelling. From Prithviraj Kapoor's theatrical gravitas to Ranbir Kapoor's modern-day screen presence, generations of Kapoors have helped shape Indian cinema. But one name that stands out for his mix of charm, talent, and longevity is Rishi Kapoor. Born into cinematic royalty, Rishi Kapoor grew up surrounded by film sets and storytelling. His journey in the industry began young, first as a child artist in Shree 420 (1955), and then playing a young Raj Kapoor in Mera Naam Joker (1970), a role that earned him a National Film Award. But it was his full-fledged debut as a romantic lead in Bobby (1973), directed by his father Raj Kapoor, that truly made him a star overnight. The film not only launched Rishi Kapoor's career as a leading man but also set the template for youthful romance in Hindi cinema. Raj Kapoor, known for his meticulous and demanding direction, was a perfectionist. He believed in capturing genuine emotion, even if it meant pushing his actors to uncomfortable places. A famous example of this is a scene from Prem Rog where Padmini Kolhapure's character had to slap Rishi Kapoor's character. Raj Kapoor insisted that the slap be real to maintain authenticity. What was supposed to be a single take turned into a physically demanding sequence, as technical issues forced them to reshoot the scene multiple times, resulting in Rishi Kapoor being slapped 7 to 8 times. In an interview later, Padmini Kolhapure recalled the incident, revealing how uncomfortable she felt repeating the act, but followed Raj Kapoor's instructions. Rishi Kapoor, on his part, took it in stride but jokingly vowed revenge. Years later, when Rishi and Padmini reunited for the film Rahi Badal Gaye, the tables turned. This time, Rishi's character had to slap Padmini's. But instead of settling scores, he didn't seek revenge. He delivered the scene in one take, without drawing it out, quietly letting go of the past. Their partnership onscreen reflected this mutual respect. The two went on to act in multiple films together, including Zamaane Ko Dikhana Hai (1981), Yeh Ishq Nahi Aasaan (1984), Pyar Ke Kabil (1987), and Hawalaat (1987). But it was Prem Rog that became their career-defining collaboration. It was the second-highest-grossing film of 1982, and remains a significant film in both their careers, not just for its success, but for the behind-the-scenes story of two actors which still make us chuckle today.

Sanjay Dutt Shares Rare Childhood Photos With Mother Nargis Dutt In Emotional Post
Nargis Dutt, a towering figure in Indian cinema, is remembered not only for her powerful performances in films like Mother India, Barsaat, and Shree 420, but also for her immense humanitarian work after retiring from the silver screen. She was a symbol of grace, compassion, and strength—both on screen and off. Her sudden passing in 1981 due to cancer, just three days before the release of Sanjay's debut film Rocky, left the young actor devastated and cast a long emotional shadow over his life and career. Sanjay Dutt faced a deeply troubling phase following the sickness and death of his mother, Nargis, in 1981. Her death had a profound impact on him, occurring just days before the release of his debut film, Rocky. Struggling with the loss, Sanjay found it difficult to cope emotionally, and this turmoil led him down the path of substance abuse. During a recent chat with Vickey Lalwani, Sanjay's sister, Priya opened up about the actor's tough time. Priya shared, 'Sanju's drug abuse had started while our mother was sick… As he was here (India) most of the time. Nobody had the time to keep a check on him, because our focus then was our mom and her illness." Things got worse for Sanjay and his addiction after Nargis passed away. Priya said, 'Mom's passing away really took a toll on him… Mom often warned him that his movie has to be released and that she will be there for him." However, Nargis passed away three days before Rocky's release. Things got worse for Sanjay after he lost his mother. 'This was extremely hard on him that she was not able to see his debut movie. Rocky's premiere happened and we kept a seat empty for mom next to papa", Priya recalled. Although Rocky was a hit, Sanjay's life went haywire due to his addiction, and he needed rehab.

Delhi Metro Turns Into Karaoke Lounge As Uncles Croone To Manna Dey Special
Four elderly men travelling via the yellow line sang the Hindi Bollywood classic 'Pyar Hua Ikrar Hua' inside the Delhi Metro. Elderly men from Delhi transformed a metro coach into a karaoke lounge in a viral video that polarised opinions on the internet. In a clip shared on Reddit, a group of Desi Uncles held the mic and sang the Hindi Bollywood classic 'Pyar Hua Ikrar Hua' from legendary actor Raj Kapoor's Shree 420. The video once again brought the metro to the centre of social media's attention, evoking mixed opinions. The exact timing and location of the video could not be verified. However, according to the post made by Redditor Upstairs-Bit6897, the video was shot while the metro travelled through the yellow line on Tuesday, April 22. The four men joyfully sang the popular 1955 film song and entertained the rest of the travellers, creating a Karaoke-like atmosphere with the presence of the microphone. The clip adds to the series of amusing videos that have gone viral from the Delhi metro, which has become a source of great content for social media users in India and across the globe in recent years. The latest footage of elderly men singing the Bollywood classic garnered significant traction and also divided opinions on Reddit. 'Uncles living their best life. Honestly, this made my day,' a Redditor said, before another commented: 'What a throwback! They've got great taste in music, I'll give them that.' A third joked how the Delhi metro is never short of such content. 'Delhi Metro never disappoints. From dance shows to this karaoke session – we've seen it all now!' he said. Not everyone was pleased with the viral footage, though. One Reddit user pointed out that the singing may not be too pleasant for those who wish to travel in silence and peace. 'This is sweet and all, but it can get annoying if you're trying to commute in peace,' the user said, before finding support from another, who wrote, 'Public transport is not a concert hall. What if someone else wants silence?' Some with a balanced take responded by mentioning that the elderly men were not disturbing the peace of the travellers with any loud music. 'As long as they aren't bothering anyone or being too loud, it's just some innocent fun,' a user said, joined by another who mentioned the uncles are better than those who shout in public places. 'At least it's better than people shouting on phone calls!' the user wrote.

Delhi Metro turns karaoke stage for elderly men; group sings ‘Pyaar Hua Ikrar Hua' in viral video
A viral video has once again put Delhi Metro in the spotlight, this time for an impromptu karaoke session that caught the attention of netizens. The clip, which quickly gained popularity on Reddit, shows a group of elderly men, affectionately dubbed 'uncles' by users, turning a metro coach into a makeshift karaoke lounge. They're seen joyfully singing the romantic classic Pyar Hua Ikrar Hua from the 1955 Bollywood movie Shree 420, with one of them holding a microphone to add an authentic karaoke vibe to the metro ride. The video, shot on the Yellow Line of the Delhi Metro on April 22, 2025, was shared by a Reddit user named 'Upstairs-Bit6897,' and has since gone viral. Watch the video: Delhi Metro ❌️ Karaoke Stand ✅️ byu/Upstairs-Bit6897 indelhi Some Reddit users couldn't help but react to the uncles' carefree vibe, with one saying, 'Awh, they all vibing with the most Indian dad expressions.' Others shared their own experiences, with one commenter saying, ' 10 saal se metro me travel kr rha hun…kabhi kuchh aisa ni dekha, na dance, na romance, na cultural thing (I've been traveling on the metro for 10 years… never seen anything like this, neither dance, nor romance, nor anything cultural).' The incident also sparked some comparisons to a previous event where a group of women had performed kirtan (devotional songs) in the metro. One user pointed out the irony, saying, 'Ironically, people were bashing some ladies who were doing kirtan in Delhi metro. But now people are enjoying this.' The kirtan performance had led to a brief confrontation with security, who informed the women that such activities were not permitted according to metro rules. The karaoke session, on the other hand, has been embraced by many as a lighthearted and fun moment in an otherwise routine metro ride.
