Narendra Modi
on Sunday flagged off three new Vande Bharat Express trains from KSR Bengaluru railway station, further expanding India's semi-high-speed rail network.
The new services — Ajni (Nagpur)-Pune, KSR Bengaluru-Belagavi, and Shree Mata Vaishnodevi Katra-Amritsar — are aimed at cutting travel time, boosting tourism, and improving passenger convenience.

The new additions — take the total count of Vande Bharat trains running across India to 150, according to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Fastest train on Bengaluru–Belagavi route
The Bengaluru–Belagavi Vande Bharat Express is the 11th such service in Karnataka.
Numbered 26751/26752, it will cover the 611 km journey in 8 hours and 20 minutes, making it the fastest train between the two cities. Railway officials said it will save around 1 hour and 20 minutes from KSR Bengaluru to Belagavi and 1 hour 40 minutes on the return trip compared to existing services. It will run six days a week, except Wednesday.
The route links Bengaluru, India's Silicon City, with Belagavi, a hub of premier medical and engineering institutions, fostering economic and educational opportunities.
It passes through Karnataka's sugarcane belt and major cities such as Dharwad, Hubballi, Haveri, Davangere, and Tumakuru, benefiting students, professionals, farmers, and traders. Officials said the train will promote economic growth and cultural exchange across the region.
Following the inauguration, a special train (06575) departed from KSR Bengaluru to Belagavi at 11:15 AM on Sunday, reaching at 8:00 PM with stops at Yesvantpur, Tumakuru, Davangere, SMM Haveri, SSS Hubballi, and Dharwad.
Maharashtra gets its 12th Vande Bharat
The launch of the Ajni (Nagpur)-Pune service has given Maharashtra its 12th Vande Bharat train. Central Railway officials said the service will benefit regular business travellers, students, and tourists while boosting trade and commerce.
Longest-running Vande Bharat in the country
The Ajni–Pune Vande Bharat Express will be the longest-running in the country, covering 881 km. It will also be the fastest train between Nagpur and Pune, with an average speed of 73 km/h and 10 intermediate stops.
Vaishno Devi to Amritsar in 5.5 hours
The Shree Mata Vaishnodevi Katra-Amritsar Vande Bharat (train number 26406) will connect the Shrine to Amritisar with runtime of 5 hours 40 minutes. It'll originate from Shree Mata Vaishnodevi Katra (SVDK) at 6.40 am, reaching Amritsar at 12.20 pm.
