Supporter takes over when official injured in League Two match
A supporter was asked to officiate during a League Two match on Saturday after an assistant referee picked up an injury.
There was a 17-minute delay in the first half of Shrewsbury Town's fixture against Bromley as a replacement for Scott Chaulkley was found.
As recorded by the home team's match report, Shrewsbury fan Alan Cork volunteered.
Cork, a qualified level-five referee, had been watching in the stands at Croud Meadow and stood in for the fourth official, who had taken the place of the assistant referee.
Shout-out to our new fourth official for the afternoon! 🙌
Thanks for saving the day, Alan 🫡😅

The incident was also tracked on Bromley's official X account.
The admin gave live updates as the PA announcer at the stadium asking for a replacement official as the players returned to the changing rooms in the break of play.
The PA announcer is now asking for a qualified referee.
Football is back, ladies and gentlemen.
