Ramcharitmanas gives spiritual, social-moral guidance: Dy CM

Kanpur: Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak on Thursday highlighted how Tulsidas introduced Lord Ram to every household through the Ramcharitmanas.
Addressing the gathering during the Goswami Tulsidas Jayanti celebrations at Veerangana Laxmibai auditorium of the Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, he said that Tulsidas declined the offer to be one of the Akbar's nine jewels, opting instead to compose the Ramcharitmanas to safeguard Indian culture.
The programme was jointly organised by Sanatan Seva Satsang Kanpur Province and Shrimad Bhagavad Gita and Vedic Literature Research Institute. The deputy CM unveiled a statue of Goswami Tulsidas on the university campus. The programme, presided over by vice-chancellor Vinay Kumar Pathak, also featured addresses by Swami Prabuddhanand and Speaker Virendra Yajnik.
Earlier, during the Manas Sangam programme at Tulsivan in Motijheel, he stressed the importance of familiarising youth with the ideals and literature of Tulsidas.
Pathak discussed how Hinduism faced threats during the Akbar's reign. The destruction of Takshashila University resulted in the loss of sacred texts, including Vedas, Puranas, and Upanishads. Teachers requested their pupils to preserve these texts through memorisation as guru dakshina. Despite Rahim's offer, Tulsidas declined to join Akbar's court, subsequently creating the Ramcharitmanas, he said.
On India's recent BrahMos missile test towards Pakistan, he noted India's historical prowess in warfare and mentioned Macaulay's observation about controlling India through educational reforms.
