Mr India Shubham Sharma: My mission is to win Mister Supranational 2025 for India

Mr India Shubham Sharma, who will be representing India at the stage of Mister Supranational 2025 later this month, calls the opportunity an 'honour and a privilege'. He shares, 'I always wanted to join the Indian Army and I also prepared for it back in 2023. But now representing India as Mr. India, I feel half of my dream has come true. Now my main mission is to win the title for India because it's been a long time since we won.' Shubham Sharma's entry into pageantry happened after he failed to clear his exam for the army, and he won in his first try. Now, with his title and influence, he wants to create a positive impact in the society. 'For me, my win is about my purpose. I always wanted to help underprivileged children, and it's my ground up initiative project (an initiative by Mister Supranational) too—Kickstarting Dreams. I want to help children who don't have the access to sports. I want to give them a community where they can flourish their interest and love for it. I am also a fitness trainer, so I also want to promote fitness and healthcare,' he says. While India has had a great track record at the international pageant, with even one winner in the past, Prathamesh Maulingkar in 2018, the nation has not placed in the last two editions. 'India had been out of form at the pageant for the last two editions, but I am sure this year will bring the change,' Shubham says confidently. Admitting that he was an introverted kid growing up, Shubham says that winning Mr India helped him open up. 'My father has said that when I come back, I should have a friend in every country I go to. So, I should make friends with everyone,' he says, sharing his career plans post his Supra journey: 'I always wanted to be a model, but after Supra, I want to pursue acting too. I want to play different characters that connect with people.'

PM Modi meets Pahalgam terror attack victim's family members in Kanpur, consoles them

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met the family of Shubham Dwivedi, the Kanpur-based businessman who was among the 26 people killed in the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting was held at the Air Force Station, Chakeri, as the prime minister offered condolences and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family. Shubham Dwivedi's parents, Sanjay and Seema, along with Shubham's wife Aishanya, were present during the meeting. Shubham and Aishanya were married on February 12 this year. Modi spent time with the family, acknowledged their pain and said the nation would forever honour the courage and sacrifice of Shubham. He reassured them of the government's support and shared their sorrow, stating that such acts of terrorism would not weaken the country's resolve. Following the interaction, Aishanya said, 'It felt as though someone had placed a hand over my head.' 'The prime minister spoke with great empathy and told me that the country is proud of Shubham. His sacrifice will not be forgotten.' She also said Modi reiterated the government's commitment to ongoing anti-terror operations and made clear that the fight against terrorism would continue with full force. Aishanya told the prime minister that the attack appeared intended to disrupt the improving situation in the valley. 'Things were getting better in Kashmir, and perhaps the attackers came to undo that progress,' she said. 'They asked our religion before they shot. They wanted to divide us, to create hatred between Hindus and Muslims.' She added that Modi listened intently and responded with understanding. 'The pain was visible on his face,' she said. 'He also consoled my father-in-law, placing a hand on his shoulder.' Speaking after the meeting, Sanjay Dwivedi expressed gratitude for what he called the government's strong and timely response to the attack. 'We are grateful that the Prime minister took the time to meet us and expressed such deep sorrow,' he said. 'He promised that this fight against terrorism will continue until it is rooted out.' The meeting concluded with Modi assuring the family that he would meet them again soon. 'He said there was little time today, but he will come again. That gave us strength,' said Dwivedi.

The prime minister met the grieving family at the Chakeri airport here. It was a very emotional meeting, said Saurabh Dwivedi, Shubham's cousin. "All the family members started crying when they met PM Modi," he said. The prime minister also got emotional during the meeting and assured Shubham's family of his government's full support, Saurabh added. Shubham's father said, "The PM spoke to us just like a guardian. Like us, he too got emotional and assured us of his government's full support. ‘We were crying:' PM Modi meets family of Pahalgam attack victim Shubham Dwivedi

One of Shubham's cousins said that it was a very emotional moment and all family members teared up during the meeting with PM Modi read more Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday (May 30) met with the kin of Shubham Dwivedi – one of the 26 victims killed in the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. News agency PTI quoted one of Shubham's cousins as saying that it was a very emotional moment and all family members teared up during the meeting. 'All the family members started crying when they met Modi,' said Saurabh Dwivedi. The 31-year-old victim had tied the knot in February, just weeks before the April tragedy. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The meeting comes after the family members raised a request to meet the prime minister through their regional lawmaker, MP Ramesh Awasthi. 'We requested our Honourable Parliamentarian, Ramesh Awasthi, that kindly allow us to meet PM Modi on his scheduled visit to Kanpur on 30th May. Awasthi not only assured us of his full support but also immediately wrote a letter to the Prime Minister, requesting that he meet with us. Yesterday, we learned through the media that the Prime Minister will indeed be meeting our family during his visit to Kanpur. This news brought us a great sense of relief and hope. We had faith that the Honourable Prime Minister, who deeply respects the sacrifices made for the nation, would acknowledge our plea,' said Saurabh. Shubham was with his wife and sister-in-law when terrorists killed him, after identifying he was a Hindu, in Pahalgam on April 22. Terrorists shot him in the head, leading to his immediate death. Later, his wife had urged the nation to acknowledge her husband's death and sacrifice. 'I only have one hope – that Shubham is given the status of a martyr. The Honourable Prime Minister is coming to meet us on the 30th, and I believe he will speak with us about this. I truly hope that during his visit to pay tribute to Shubham, he will officially recognise his sacrifice. It would mean everything to me if, on that day, my husband is honoured as a martyr,' she said. Operation Sindoor In response to the Pahalgam massacre, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting nine terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). In response to further Pakistani aggression, the Indian Armed Forces launched heavy strikes, including on Pakistani airbases.
