Cops probe Butterworth shooting as attempted murder

PETALING JAYA : Penang police are considering a shooting incident in Butterworth yesterday evening as attempted murder.
In a statement, Penang deputy police chief Alwi Zainal Abidin said they were still tracking down the suspects. 'We are also investigating the motive.'
It was reported that a man in his 40s narrowly escaped death about 5.40pm when shots were fired at his four-wheel-drive vehicle by an unidentified assailant.
The man was reported to have been on his way to pick up his son from school in Sungai Nyior when it happened.
Alwi advised the public against speculating about the case or spreading unverified information.
'Those with any information about the incident are urged to contact investigating officer Shuheri Abd Rani at 04 576 2222 or the nearest police station,' he said.
