Udaipur rape case: Accused saw French woman at ad shoot hrs before approaching her at dinner
Sources in the Rajasthan Police said, while the two had not known each other before, Ojha had seen her at Ambrai, near Lake Pichola, during a shoot. The woman, who is an artist, was participating in the shoot. ThePrint had earlier reported that, according to the First Information Report (FIR), Ojha had lured the 30-year-old French tourist while she was out for dinner on the pretext of showing her the city before raping her in the intervening hours of 22 and 23 June. Ojha, who had been absconding after the incident, was arrested in his hometown of Chittorgarh on 25 June. New Delhi: Siddharth Ojha, the man who is accused of raping a French woman in Udaipur, had spotted her earlier in the day on 22 June, before he approached her in the evening, ThePrint has learnt. He was a production assistant for a talent acquisition company that works with actors for ad shoots. He had been part of casting teams for several Bollywood projects. According to police, he has no previous criminal record. Sources said that he is also a partner of the company. A senior police officer also told ThePrint that 'the woman keeps visiting India and works as an artist. She had been in Delhi for some time.' ThePrint had earlier reported that the women arrived in Udaipur from Delhi on 22 June. That evening, when she went out for dinner and to party with her friends, Ojha allegedly approached her table and asked her to go outside for a smoke. 'He then told the victim that he could show her around and took her for a drive in his car,' another senior police officer said. According to the FIR, a copy of which is with ThePrint, despite the French survivor asking him to drop her back her to her hotel, took her to his apartment, where he raped her. He dropped her off at her hotel at around 6 am. An FIR has been registered at the Badgaon police station in Udaipur under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections related to rape at the time. Sources in Rajasthan Police said the accused has confessed to the crime. He will be produced in court today. The accused, identified as Pushparaj alias Siddharth Ojha, a resident of Gangrar in Chittorgarh, is the owner of a casting company and has worked on films, music videos, and television serials for the past eight years. According to the police, he has also done casting for Bollywood stars like Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. Udaipur Superintendent of Police (SP) Yogesh Goyal said that Pushparaj's company had hired the woman for a mobile advertisement shoot, which took place on June 22 across various locations in the city, including Lake Pichola, Sajjangarh Fort, and nearby restaurants. After the shooting, the team went to a café near Tiger Hill for a party. Later, Pushparaj allegedly lured the woman to his flat in Sukher on the pretext of smoking and raped her.

Casting agent arrested for raping French woman who came to Udaipur for ad shoot
UDIPUR: A 29-year-old man was arrested from Chittorgarh for allegedly raping a French woman who had come to Udaipur for an advertisement shoot, officials said on Wednesday. The accused, identified as Pushparaj alias Siddharth Ojha, a resident of Gangrar in Chittorgarh, owns a casting company and has worked on films, music videos and television serials, police officials said, adding that he has been living in Udaipur for the past eight years. Pushparaj's company hired the woman for a mobile advertisement shoot, which took place on June 22 at various locations in Udaipur, including Lake Pichola, Sajjangarh Fort and local restaurants, Udaipur SP Yogesh Goyal said. Following the shoot, the crew allegedly held a party at a cafe near Tiger Hill. After the party, Pushparaj took the woman to his flat in Sukher under the pretext of smoking and allegedly sexually assaulted her there. Pushparaj confessed to the crime during questioning, the police claimed. Meanwhile, some local Congress workers, led by city Congress president Fateh Singh Rathore, allegedly confronted Pushparaj as the police brought him in for questioning. Some even allegedly attempted to assault him, pulling at his arms while he was being taken to the SP office. Additional SP Umesh Ojha and DSP Kailash Chandra intervened to calm the situation and disperse the crowd. Man accused of raping French woman in Udaipur cast small-time actors for ad shoots, Bollywood movies
The man accused of raping a French woman in Rajasthan's Udaipur city is an employee of a talent acquisition company that hires actors primarily for ad shoots but has also been involved in some Bollywood projects, the police have said. He was arrested in Chittorgarh Wednesday. Siddharth Ojha, 30, has been absconding since the incident on June 22. Originally from Chittorgarh, the suspect ran a talent acquisition agency called 'Casting Call' in Udaipur and hired actors for ad shoots in the city, police said. The survivor, police said, had been living in Delhi for some time and had been involved in several modelling projects. She was allegedly in Udaipur for an ad shoot. 'Siddharth met the French woman on the night of the crime, when some crew members had gone to a cafe. He somehow cajoled her to go on a long drive. From there, he forcibly took her to his rented house and raped her, according to the woman's complaint. We have arrested the accused and will produce him in court Thursday,' Udaipur Superintendent Yogesh Goyal told The Indian Express. According to sources, the suspect cast bit-part actors in several projects, including Bollywood movies such as the Salman Khan-starrer 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' (2015) and Akshay Kumar's 'Khel-Khel Mein' (2024). The survivor was admitted to a private hospital and is stated to be stable. In her complaint, based on which the FIR was registered on June 24, she alleged: 'I arrived in Udaipur by bus from Delhi. I was there for leisure. At night, my friends and I went for dinner. A bit later in the evening, a man came to our table. He proposed we go outside for a smoke, and then took me on a drive'. She goes on to allege: 'I requested him several times to go home (to my hotel), but instead he drove me to his apartment. There, he started to ask me for a hug, which I refused. My phone was off. I asked several times to recharge my phone, but he didn't give me a cable, so I couldn't find the address of my hotel. Then he hugged me and started to touch me, while I was saying 'no' clearly… I started to cry, and he raped me. I was crying all along. When he was done, I begged him to take me home. He started by saying no, but eventually he drove me back around 6 am'.
