Sidwell Friends sweeps DCSAA team tennis titles

Sidwell Friends tennis coach Logan West greeted Karim Najdi, his St. Albans counterpart, before Thursday's D.C. State Athletic Association championships and quipped, 'We meet again. Seems to be a recurring theme.' A year ago, St. Albans captured its third straight boys' team title with Sidwell finishing runner-up. West's team was keen on turning the tables Thursday at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center and accomplished the feat, sweeping the boys' and girls' team titles.

Sidwell Friends wins first lacrosse title in 17 years; South Lakes runs into postseason

After Sidwell Friends senior Avery Coleman scored in the final minute of the Independent School League A division championship game on Saturday, she was immediately swarmed by a pack of teammates. They could feel the title at their fingertips. Coleman found the back of the net with 15.7 seconds left to put the Quakers up, 9-8, over Bullis. It was her 110th goal of the season and the 324th of her high school career.

Potomac School rallies at the right time to earn a MAC baseball three-peat

Though Potomac School had been limited to eight total runs in the first two games of the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference baseball tournament, the Panthers entered Saturday's final knowing their offense was capable of breaking a game wide open. The team was nine days removed from a 21-run performance when it took the field at Sidwell Friends, and they had posted double-digits in eight other games during the regular season.

Sidwell Friends takes down national tennis powers; Bullis shines at Penn Relays

For the Sidwell Friends tennis team, May is a month of opportunity. This spring, the nationally-ranked Quakers hope to extend their reign atop the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference and win the D.C. State Athletic Association title after falling in the DCSAA championship last season to three-time defending champion St. Albans. With the postseason now right around the corner, Coach Logan West's team will enter the final month of the season with several momentous wins in hand. In mid-April, the Quakers traveled to Tennessee and left with 4-3 victories over Harvard-Westlake (California) and McCallie School (Tennessee), which were ranked No. 6 and No. 2 respectively in the Universal Tennis Rating's national rankings.

No seniors, no problem: Sidwell Friends repeats as ISL basketball champions

With no seniors on the Sidwell Friends girls' basketball roster this winter, a talented junior class was given plenty of responsibility. The young Quakers were thrust into leadership roles, entrusted to live up to the expectations that come with playing for the Northwest Washington powerhouse. It took patience and hard work for a naturally quiet group to grow in those positions, but Sidwell still held their own and entered the postseason with just three losses: a defeat to nationally-ranked Etiwanda (California) and two losses to an emerging Bullis team, their opponent in Sunday's title game.
