Former Disney Child Star Jake Thomas Announces 'Surprising' Career Move

Millennials grew up with Disney Channel's popular TV show, Lizzie McGuire, from 2001 to 2004. Now, one of the series' stars is making a big move in his career. Jake Thomas, who played Lizzie's younger brother, Matt, is going from fans' television screens to their gaming consoles. He plays Marco Silva in a brand-new digital game, MindsEye. Describing it as a "massive action-adventure, highly cinematic game," to People, Thomas shared that it's like "you're playing a movie." His character is an "eccentric billionaire, who runs Silva Corp." The 35-year-old actor had an eye-opening experience working in the tech world. "Everything is digital, but it's me in the game, which is wild to me," Thomas said. "I got completely scanned into the game, and they've basically just made a digital version of me. They've aged me up just a little bit, but it's a digital version of me." He even got to do his own stunts "from the safety of a studio" and promised fans that "the story is just going to knock your socks off." After his time on Lizzie McGuire, Thomas took some time to explore other interests outside of his acting career. 'I don't think I ever really took a full step back from Hollywood,' he explained to E! News. 'I think there was a point in my life where I did decide that I was focusing on school, I was going to college, I was taking classes and just as many things as I possibly could. I think there was a time where I kind of just wanted to see what I could do, kind of on my own merit and not so much resting on my laurels of the credits that I've done in the past as a kid.'
