TSPC rebel held in Chatra, weapons seized
1 2 Chatra: A TSPC extremist, identified as Arjun Ganjhu, was arrested on Tuesday along with a pistol and large quantity of Insas rifle ammunition. Chatra SP Sumit Kumar Agarwal said a tip-off was received that Arjun possessed illegal bullets and weapons, which were kept somewhere at Tikda village under the limits of Lawalong police station area. A team led by Simaria SDPO Shubham Khandelwal was formed, and a raid was conducted. Arjun was close to the arrested top commander of TSPC, Akraman Ganjhu. Agarwal said, "During the raid, a loaded country-made pistol was recovered from him. Based on his information, 477 rounds of live bullets of INSAS rifle and 246 rounds of .303 rifle, totalling 723 rounds of live bullets, were also recovered. All bullets were hidden in a box under the ground in the forest of Tikda village. The recovered bullets were seized, and the accused was sent to Chatra jail in judicial custody." Arjun also went to jail in one case in the past. He said, "Chatra police achieved significant success against the TSPC organisation and would continue to take action against such outfits in the future." On the other hand, Akraman, the most wanted and dreaded commander of TSPC, was arrested in March this year. He had a reward of Rs 15 lakh on his head.

Four held in Chatra for clerk's abduction
Chatra: The police arrested four men for abducting Dharmendra Kumar Gupta, a construction company clerk, on May 31. Gupta was abducted on the night of May 31 from the site of an under-construction bridge near Balbal river under Giddhaur police station limits. He was rescued from Chatra-Hazaribag border on June 2. SP Sumit Agarwal said of the four men, three are residents of Bokaro district while one is a native of Hazaribag. Raids are underway to arrest others in the case. The police also recovered Rs 9.5 lakh which was taken as ransom from Gupta's family for his release. Those arrested were identified as Rameshwar alias Ramesh Karmali alias Ramakant, Deepak Kumar Yadav and Rajan Yadav alias Dilip Yadav alias Tarzan, from Bokaro district, while Subhan Ansari hailed from Vishnugarh in Hazaribag. "More than 18 cases of robbery, murder, and kidnapping are registered against Ramesh in different police stations. Three cases are against Deepak, more than seven cases are against Subhan," the SP added. A country-made loaded pistol, two bullets, a DVR of the CCTV camera, an adapter, a backpack, two diaries, eight mobile phones, three bikes, and household items were seized from the abductors, police said. "In view of the sensitivity and seriousness of the case, an SIT team was formed under the leadership of Simaria SDPO Shubham Khandelwal. The team continuously held raids to finally arrest the abductors," Agarwal said. The abductors have a criminal history. Ramesh is the mastermind of the team.
