Student killed in Pitas hit-and-run, cops seek witnesses
Published on: Wednesday, August 20, 2025 Published on: Wed, Aug 20, 2025 Text Size: KOTA MARUDU: Police are seeking witnesses in a hit-and-run case involving a male Form Four student, who was killed after his motorcycle collided with a Perodua Kancil on Jalan Bongkol, Kampung Kalipoun Darat, Pitas, last Saturday. Kota Marudu Police Chief Supt Simiun Lomudin said initial investigations found that the victim's motorcycle was struck and dragged by the vehicle during the 6.30pm incident. Advertisement 'The incident occurred while the victim was on his way home. The driver of the vehicle is believed to have fled the scene. 'In this regard, the police are appealing for the cooperation of the public who witnessed the incident, or have any information related to the crash, to come forward and assist with the investigation,' he said. Simiun added that members of the public with information can contact the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division investigating officer at the Kota Marudu district police headquarters, Inspector Julina Samual, at 088-661 066. Kota Marudu OCPD Supt Simiun Lomudin said initial investigations found that the victim's motorcycle was struck and dragged by the vehicle during the 6.30pm incident. "The incident occurred while the victim was on his way home. The driver of the vehicle is believed to have fled the scene.
