4 reasons Milton SummerFest is Halton's can't-miss street festival
The Downtown Milton SummerFest is one of the few truly unique can't miss festivals in Halton region. Set for June 7 along the town's Main Street, SummerFest combines an incredible musical lineup, numerous unique vendors, an enormous kids zone and a notably electric atmosphere. Organizers have worked hard to establish the event as a standout festival during the busy summer calendar. Here are four reasons not to miss it. Organizers have picked a solid set of performing acts. Kicking off at noon and running until 8 p.m. on two stages, the event will showcase a mix of cover acts, original music performers with a solid track record and some local favourites. The headlining act is Cmagic5, a Toronto-based performer who opened for Simple Plan. She's described as Joan Jett meets Dua Lipa. Downtown Milton SummerFest is well aware attendees are looking for a great shot for their socials. Multiple photo ops are available to perfectly show off how you maximized your summer. For a festival located in a smaller historic downtown, the food options are remarkable. There are over 30 vendors from the community and beyond set to keep the people fed and refreshed. Everything from Japanese style cheesecakes to meat on a stick will be available. There's also a beer garden located beside one of the music stages. What really stands out about SummerFest is the energy. As a popular event right at the launch of summer, it tends to attract a fun crowd of people to get outside and enjoy the summer weather. Avril Lavigne Helps A Pop-Punk Favorite Reach A New Career High
Avril Lavigne and Simple Plan's "Young and Dumb" debuts inside the top 10 on multiple Billboard ... More charts, bringing both acts to new career peaks. (Photo by Monica Murray/Variety via Getty Images) Avril Lavigne kicked off the second leg of her Greatest Hits tour just a few days ago in mid-May. She began the trek a year ago and then took a month-long break, but is now back on the road for another run of shows. In an effort to energize fans for her next several dozen performances, the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter recently released a new single titled "Young and Dumb." The collaboration with pop-punk band Simple Plan – who open for Lavigne on a number of upcoming concert dates – helps both artists reach new peaks on the Billboard charts, as the track becomes a quick bestseller in America. "Young and Dumb" debuts on two tallies in the U.S. this frame, and it manages to open inside the top five on both of them. The track launches highest on the Alternative Digital Song Sales chart, coming in at No. 3. It starts just one position lower on the Rock Digital Song Sales list. Lavigne reaches a new all-time peak on the Rock Digital Song Sales chart with "Young and Dumb." The track bests the No. 5 high point of "Bite Me," which lifted her to that spot in November 2021. The Canadian singer also matches her best showing ever on the Alternative Digital Song Sales chart. "Bite Me" hit No. 3 several years ago, and that's exactly where her duet with Simple Plan launches this time around. Simple Plan also reaches a new career high on both rankings this time around. "Young and Dumb" marks the Canadian band's first top 10 on both the Rock Digital Song Sales and Alternative Digital Song Sales charts. Lavigne collects her fourth top 10 on the Rock list and her fifth on the alternative ranking. Simple Plan has only placed one tune on both rosters in the past, but it wasn't the same cut. Back in 2012, the group joined Sean Paul on "Summer Paradise," which climbed to just No. 35 on the Rock Digital Song Sales chart — a position that no longer exists, as the ranking has since been shortened. The group's own "The Antidote" spent one frame at No. 23 in November 2021 on the Alternative Digital Song Sales list. Lavigne collects a pair of new hits on the Billboard rankings this frame. In addition to her Simple Plan track, the pop-punk favorite joins Billy Idol on "77." That tune opens at No. 37 on the Adult Pop Airplay chart.
