Debenhams' £160 'beautiful' hanging egg chair now just a tenner more than Aldi's
Aldi's £150 hanging egg chair was a sell-out sensation this year, but this Debenhams one is a perfect alternative that only costs a tenner more. We've been graced with a heatwave this week, and with the sunny weather, many Scots will be looking to revamp their garden furniture ahead of coming summer barbecues and gatherings. And one place many shoppers look for affordable patio furniture is Aldi. The budget-friendly supermarket's best-selling garden furniture is widely anticipated every summer, and its coveted hanging egg chair is among the most anticipated items. This year was no exception, and the £149.99 swinging chair proved to be another sell-out sensation. But if you missed out on the Aldi one, a great alternative can be found at Debenhams, which rivals it in terms of both quality and price. Usually priced at £399.99, the Alivio Hanging Egg Chair is now on sale down to £159.99, making it just £10 more than Aldi's version, reports The Mirror. The Alivio Hanging Egg Chair is ideal for gardens of any size, measuring 145cm x 116cm at the base, and 202cm high, 129cm wide and 69cm deep overall. That means you could easily tuck it onto a small balcony or make it a focal point on your patio or deck without it taking up too much space. Despite its compact size, it's roomy enough to comfortably fit one person, and has a weight capacity of up to 200kg. It can also be placed on several different surfaces, including lawns, paving and decking. It features plush comfortable cushions, including a separate head rest cushion, and is made from a sturdy metal frame with a rattan finish. Whilst the Alivio Hanging Egg Chair only has one colour option, if you want some more choice Dunelm's Singapore Hanging Egg Chair is available in either black or natural brown, and is priced at £199. Meanwhile the Castello Natural Garden Swing Egg Chair comes in either natural and grey, or black with a black base, and is currently on sale at Barker & Stonehouse down from £375 to £299. Currently the Alivio Hanging Egg Chair only has six reviews, with five of them giving it a full five stars. One shopper wrote: 'Fabulous, well made chair for the price in the sale. Really pleased and would highly recommend,' whilst another agreed: 'Really easy to assemble and very sturdy. Good quality cushion too. I'm very happy with this.' But not everyone was so happy with their purchase. One disgruntled complaint was about customer service, rather than the chair, saying: 'Am really disappointed about Debenhams, l bought a hanging egg chair and returned it without opening it and l had not received my refund for 15 days, it's a joke.' But another shopper added: 'Beautiful well made chair so relaxing and all adults in the household can fit in it and relax comfortably.' Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Dunelm's hanging egg chair 'by far the comfiest I have ever sat on' One customer pointed out a flaw if you have a busy day ahead, saying 'Once you sit in it you will not want to get up!' A stylish and speedy addition to your garden or balcony (Image: Dunelm ) The sun is out and the garden or balcony is calling you, but so is the desire to be nestled into a garden chair that is as stylish as it is comfortable - as well as make the neighbours jealous. Enter the Singapore Hanging Egg Chair from Dunelm, priced £199 and offered as 'quick delivery' that is only a few days or maybe even same day if your local store has the chair in stock and you're willing to go and pick it up - and the delighted buyers think you should. Scoring an impressive 4.9 out of five stars of customer feedback, one buyer gushes about the Singapore Hanging Egg Chair, "This is by far the comfiest chair I have ever sat on. Easy to build, great quality, speedy delivery. Once you sit in it you will not want to get up!" Made from 40% metal, 40% rattan, 20% fabric, the Singapore Hanging Egg Chair comes in black or natural and can be wiped down with a soft cloth to clean it and would benefit from being stored inside when not in use, although one buyer helpfully comments that the chair fits a standard 'egg chair' cover from Amazon. Another buyer is sad as well as happy because they want more than one egg chair, saying, "Bought this a few weeks ago as a birthday gift for my husband. Great delivery service with call ahead to confirm arrival time. Takes a little bit of assembly but well worth the effort. Lovely thick cushion and pillow included. Sitting in this is just wonderful, so relaxing. Only one problem…everyone wants a turn, so now we need another one!" The comfort of this egg chair has been praised resulting in a 4.9 out of 5 customer feedback rating (Image: Dunelm ) Putting the Singapore Hanging Egg Chair together was simple for one buyer, who commented, 'Superb egg chair. Well constructed but easy to put together and all the necessary bits and pieces clearly labelled and good instructions supplied. The cushion is well padded and makes the chair extremely comfortable. 10 out of 10'. Of the few more negative comments, a few buyers found the assembly more challenging, with one saying, "This is a reasonably priced product but the assembly is very fiddly with lots of screws and washers. Once it's up the seat is fairly comfortable but anyone with any back issues you need to add a cushion as it puts you in a funny position inside. Maybe it's made for shorter than 5.7!" Hanging egg chair that's ‘so comfortable' and ‘good value' is perfect for enjoying the heatwave
Egg chairs have become one of the most popular and chic ways of giving your garden furniture an upgrade, and Dunelm has become a go-to for nabbing one on a budget. The Singapore Hanging Egg Chair has been praised for how 'comfortable' and 'good value' it is by shoppers, and its £199 price tag ranks makes it more affordable than plenty of other competitors. The Hanging Egg Chair has become one of its top-rated items of garden furniture, boasting a 4.9 star rating out of 900 reviews – more than 800 of which are five star ratings. You can pick up the Singapore egg chair in either black or a natural brown colour so you can pick one to suit your garden's design. It's made from a metal frame with a rattan covering which makes it feel sturdy and secure whilst still looking sophisticated. It comes with a free standing frame which allows you to have the hanging effect without worrying about what you can attach or hang the chair from. If you want something bolder than the black or brown colourways available in the Singapore design, Dunelm also has the Santorini Egg Chair which comes in several bright shades. Priced slightly higher at £249, you can pick it up in green, blue, orange and multicoloured options to bring some colour to your outdoor space. The Singapore Hanging Egg Chair also comes with extra plush cushions including a seat cushion, back rest and head rest cushion so you can get comfortable and cosy whilst enjoying the sunshine. The chair does come flat packed and requires some assembly before you can start enjoying it, but shoppers have mentioned how sturdy it feels once up. Plenty of shoppers have praised the chair, with one saying: ' Easy to assemble, very sturdy, extremely comfortable and stylish,' whilst another agreed: 'Fantastic! I love this hanging chair. It is very good value for money and so comfortable.' Another reviewer wrote: 'This is by far the comfiest chair I have ever sat on. Easy to build, great quality, speedy delivery. Once you sit in it you will not want to get up!' Some did struggle with the assembly aspect, with one writing: 'This is a great egg chair with a plush cushion. However I would never have bought it if I had known the basket would be in 3 x pieces. It took 2 of us over an hour to put the whole thing together and then one of the screws wouldn't fit. Never again' And another agreed: 'Very nice egg chair and pretty good value. Word of warning does need quite a lot of self assembly but no problem for an average DIY person.' If you want something slightly more budget-friendly, Debenhams has the Alivio Hanging Egg Chair available for £149.99, down from £399.99. If you'd rather avoid the hanging design, you can also pick up the Outsunny Rattan Leisure Chair w/ Cushion for £134.29, which is reduced from £201.99.
