Debenhams' 'fabulous' hanging egg chair rivals Aldi's as it's slashed from £400 to £160

Daily Mirror02-05-2025

Aldi's much anticipated £150 hanging egg chair was another sell out sensation for 2025, but if you missed out this Debenhams one is the perfect alternative as its reduced to £160
Every year, budget-conscious shoppers eagerly wait for Aldi to drop its best-selling garden furniture into the middle aisle, with the coveted hanging egg chair being amongst the most anticipated. This year was no exception, with the £149.99 swinging chair proving to be another sell out sensation.
However if you missed out on the Aldi one, we've spotted a great alternative at Debenhams, which rivals it in terms of both quality and price. Usually priced at £399.99, the Alivio Hanging Egg Chair is now on sale down to £159.99, making it just £10 more than Aldi's version.
The Alivio Hanging Egg Chair is ideal for gardens of any size, measuring 145cm x 116cm at the base, and 202cm high, 129cm wide and 69cm deep overall. That means you could easily tuck it onto a small balcony or make it a focal point on your patio or deck without taking up too much space.
Despite its compact size, it's roomy enough to comfortably fit one person, and has a weight capacity of up to 200kg. It can also be placed on several different surfaces, including lawns, paving and decking.
It features plush comfortable cushions, including a separate head rest cushion, and is made from a sturdy metal frame with a rattan finish. Currently the Alivio Hanging Egg Chair only has reviews, with five of them giving it a full five stars.
One wrote: 'Fabulous, well made chair for the price in the sale. Really pleased and would highly recommend,' whilst another agreed: 'Really easy to assemble and very sturdy. Good quality cushion too. I'm very happy with this.'
A third added: ' Beautiful well made chair so relaxing and all adults in the household can fit in it and relax comfortably.'
The one disgruntled complaint was about customer service, rather than the chair, saying: 'Am really disappointed about Debenhams, l bought a hanging egg chair and returned it without opening it and l had not received my refund for 15 days, it's a joke.'
Whilst the Alivio Hanging Egg Chair only has one colour option, if you want some more choice Dunelm's Singapore Hanging Egg Chair is available in either black or natural brown, and is priced at £199. Meanwhile the Castello Natural Garden Swing Egg Chair comes in either natural and grey, or black with a black base, and is currently on sale at Barker & Stonehouse down from £375 to £299.
