Fire at Sandakan wood factory

SANDAKAN: Fire broke out at a wood processing factory owned by Sinora in Batu Sapi, here, affecting the machinery area where sawdust is stored (dust collector), Thursday morning. The incident was reported at 10.24am, and the fire and rescue team arrived at the scene at 10.40am, after traveling some 16km from the Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station.
Advertisement According to Acting Station Chief of the Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station, PBKI Alan Ayuh, the fire affected an area measuring 10x15ft, with approximately 20 per cent of the structure damaged. Firefighting operations were swiftly carried out using 200ft of hoses via dividing breeching and two water jets. Water was sourced from the fire engine and nearby fire hydrants, with the factory's Emergency Response Team (ERT) also assisting in the operation. No casualty was reported in the incident. The fire was successfully brought under control by 1pm, and the operation was wrapped up at 1.08pm.
