Two men arrested after police seize drugs during traffic stop in Lower Sackville, N.S.
RCMP says the driver, a 41-year-old man from Middle Sackville, and the passenger, a 49-year-old man from Sipekne'katik, were released on conditions pending their upcoming court appearances. Two men were arrested for drug-related offences following a traffic stop in Lower Sackville, N.S. Halifax Regional RCMP says an officer was conducting proactive patrols around Sackville Drive and Sackville Crossroads just before noon on Tuesday when they noticed a Ford Explorer with two men inside travelling with a licence plate registered to a different vehicle. The officer initiated a traffic stop and learned the passenger had an outstanding warrant. Police say the passenger was arrested and the vehicle was searched. Officers arrested the driver after finding cocaine in the vehicle. Police allegedly found additional forms of cocaine, cash and other drug evidence as they continued to search the driver and the vehicle. RCMP says the driver, a 41-year-old man from Middle Sackville, and the passenger, a 49-year-old man from Sipekne'katik, were released on conditions pending their upcoming court appearances. Woman, 52, dies after house fire in Sipekne'katik: N.S. RCMP

The RCMP said fire services and EHS were called to a structure fire on Tuff Street near Burma Road on Sunday around 12:25 a.m. Police say when officers arrived at the scene, the home was fully engulfed in flames. After the fire was extinguished, RCMP say firefighters located one person deceased inside the home. According to a RCMP release, criminality is not believed to be a factor. The investigation is ongoing and is being assisted by the Nova Scotia Fire Marshal's Office and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service. Police said they do not believe criminality was a factor in the fire, but they are looking to speak with anyone who may know more about what happened.
