Durrow the Star of the show at Curaheen Park

Curraheen Park Durrow Star completed a three timer with an impressive victory in the final of the £7,500 to the winner A2 Spring Derby before a fine crowd at Curraheen Park on Saturday night. A fastest of the stake 28.15 in the second round followed up by a 28.57 semi-final victory saw the daughter of Pestana-Rural Aloha, trained by Francis Murray for Diarmuid O'Neill, Tullamore sent off the 4/5 favourite. A dream run down the outside, when Microchip from trap five moved straight for the rails, saw the middle seed running from trap six turn into the back straight sharing the lead with Amazing Charmer and Drumshanbo Susie. The latter, tight for room, lost her place as they passed the sprint traps which left the other pair battle it out up front. Durrow asserted as they ran the bottom two bends and the powerful finisher then drew five lengths clear to the line from the rallying Drumshanbo who took the runner-up spot by a short head from Amazing in a time of 28.49. Satin Tango (Jacob Tashadelek-Satin Abbie) trained by John Linehan for Eugene Sheehan, Mallow was another to complete a hat trick when she took the last, an open 525, in the fastest clock of the night 28.35. A 2/1 chance, she took over from her kennel companion Footfield Violet as they hit the back straight and then made the rest, but after being three lengths clear at the third bend she just held on at the line by a short head from the fast finishing Da Tapper Flynn, who unfortunately for connections was filling the runner-up spot for the third race running. Leading trainer at the venue over the past number of years, Kieran Lynch, sent his supporters home happy the Minane Bridge based trainer sending out a fabulous four timer on the night. Winner number one came courtesy of that winning machine Peronys Zero, owned by Conor Motherway and Eoin Ivers, who took an S1/2 sprint in 17.70 making it career win number seven from just ten starts. Cuile Line Best, owned by The Freemount Gang Syndicate, made it winner number two with a career best effort in an A2 stopping the clock in 28.48. Sirius Alpha, owned by The Sirius Syndicate, Cloyne brought up the treble with a fine trap to line display in an S0/1 sprint in a fabulous 17.49. Parkview Sprite, another kennel favourite owned by John Quinn and John Maher, Mallow, completed the four timer with a trap to line success in the first semi-final of the Curraheen Park 25th Anniversary A1 575 Stake in an excellent clock of 31.06.
