LAHAD DATU: Umno is positioning itself for a strong comeback in the coming Sabah election in all four state constituencies in Lahad Datu. Lahad Datu Umno Wanita Chief Sitti Royani Rafael is confident that grassroots support and the party's organisational strength would contribute to victory in the coming state polls. She hopes Barisan Nasional (BN) will field candidates in all four state seats, namely Silam, Segama, Kunak and Tungku. 'Grassroots support remains intact. While we lost in 2018 and 2020, that is not an absolute measure,' she said at the Lahad Datu Umno Wanita Delegates Meeting held at the Dewan Chee Yee Khor. 'The 2018 defeat was due to a nationwide political tsunami, and in 2020 we faced coalition conflicts that were incompatible and detrimental,' she added. The meeting was officiated by national Umno Wanita Chief Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad, with Sabah Umno Wanita Chief Datuk Noraini Idris also in attendance. Sitti Royani urged members to maintain unity and avoid division to strengthen the party, while Noraini emphasised the need for continued ground-level engagement to rebuild voter confidence in Umno and BN. Noraini said Umno-BN remains committed to listening to and advocating for Sabah's concerns at the Federal level. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
