How does Payton Pritchard feel about the Celtics' busy offseason?
Boston Celtics point guard Payton Pritchard is in a stable place at the moment. He's on a relatively cheap contract and cemented how valuable he is to the C's after winning Sixth Man of the Year last season. And while the 27-year-old stayed put this offseason, that wasn't the case for many of his teammates. Celtics starters Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis were traded away this summer, while backup center Luke Kornet walked in free agency. Veteran big man Al Horford is also expected to leave the C's in the coming weeks, casting plenty of uncertainty around Pritchard and company for the 2025-26 season. In spite of this, the sixth-year Celtic didn't sound too worried during a conversation with NBC Sports Boston's Chris Forsberg. He discussed the recent roster changes, a new NBA rule that he helped create, and more on the Celtics Talk Podcast. Knicks star point guard shares thoughts on Jordan Clarkson signing
The New York Knicks made a big addition to their second unit by signing former Sixth Man of The Year Jordan Clarkson to a one-year, $3.6 million deal earlier this offseason. Clarkson has been one of the league's best bench players over the last half-decade, leading the NBA in bench points since 2020. He spent the last six seasons with the Utah Jazz, where he averaged 17.5 points per game off the bench, and won the Sixth Man of The Year award in 2021. The Knicks are presumably pleased with bringing in Clarkson for next season, as is the team's superstar point guard Jalen Brunson, who on his podcast 'The Roommates Show,' told his reaction to the team bringing in Clarkson. 'I know him,' Brunson said. 'Talked to him for a little bit. Good dude. Surrounds himself with good people that I know. A great addition for us, for sure.' The Knicks were last in total bench points, and bench points per game by a wide margin last season, bringing in the league's top bench scorer will surely help resolve at least some of those issues. Additionally, signing Clarkson gives the Knicks another ball handling scorer to take some of the pressure off of Jalen Brunson, and allows the Knicks showcase their depth on a level that they haven't been able to in quite some time. Last season, Clarkson averaged 16.2 points per game while shooting 36 percent from three-point range in 37 games (28 off the bench).

Grant Hill puts Jamal Crawford in a special category: "He's your favorite player's favorite player"
Grant Hill puts Jamal Crawford in a special category: "He's your favorite player's favorite player" originally appeared on Basketball Network. Grant Hill can't hide his admiration for Jamal Crawford. As someone who's played with and against the game's elite, Hill has a sharp eye for what makes a player different. According to the Hall of Fame forward, Crawford fits the bill. Advertisement "Jamal is one of my favorites and he knows it. He's one of my favorite players," Hill told Dan Patrick on "The Dan Patrick Show." "I always say Jamal's your favorite player's favorite player. He's that guy. He's that guy that KD, LeBron, Steph, I mean, guys like that. They see him and like, 'Man, he is just unreal.'" Student of the game Crawford earned the respect of his peers — Hill included — because of his unreal handles and smooth jumper. Despite not having an All-Star appearance in his resumè, the legendary guard won the Sixth Man of the Year award three times, establishing himself as one of the best off-the-bench players in the history of the NBA. That said, Crawford did not develop his skills overnight. Hill watched him study basketball religiously and recalled Crawford asking him about specific plays in games that happened years ago. Advertisement "We played together my last year in the Clippers," Hill recalled, "and we sat together on the plane. This guy was studying basketball. He would go and look at clips on YouTube and talk about games I played in the '90s and certain moves that I did." "We talked about, well, he liked to go left pulling up. He's like, 'You know what? You inspired me. I got to work on going right.' He's in his prime at the time… He's a basketball junkie," the Hall of Famer added. According to Hill, Crawford's skill is a product of his dedication to his craft and attention to detail. While it looks like he was showboating, every move was deliberate, built on hours of film study and a sharp sense of timing and spacing. Related: CJ McCollum explains the difference between a good and a great NBA player: "I've seen LeBron ice in the club" Crawford's three 50-point games Coming off the bench helped sharpen Crawford's knack for instant offense. He holds the record for the most 50-point games as a reserve with three, doing it with the New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors, and Phoenix Suns. He also had a 50-point display with the Chicago Bulls in 2004, though that one came as a starter against the Toronto Raptors. Advertisement However, doing it at Madison Square Garden gave Crawford's career-high of 52 points extra weight. The numbers were impressive, but the venue made it unforgettable. "You know how you score 17 straight points? He hit 17 buckets in a row!" said an impressed Dwyane Wade, whose Miami Heat was on the wrong end of Crawford's scoring outburst. "Consecutive buckets in the Garden! That was crazy." Crawford made every shot from early in the first quarter until the third. His 18-footer at the 2:17 mark of the third quarter was his first miss since the five-minute mark of the opening period. "I didn't look at anybody. I just stayed in my own zone," said Jamal. Advertisement Crawford may never have had the accolades of a superstar, but his peers knew what he brought. The NBA doesn't hand out respect easily, but Jamal earned it from those who understood the grind. Report: Cavaliers Expected to Move On From 2025 Sixth Man of the Year Finalist
Report: Cavaliers Expected to Move On From 2025 Sixth Man of the Year Finalist originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Despite losing in the second round as the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference last season, the Cleveland Cavaliers were able to hang another banner in Rocket Arena. Advertisement As they are set to take on free agency this NBA offseason, Cleveland has some questions that need to be answered before the start of next season. After trading for guard Lonzo Ball this week, questions have surrounded Sixth Man of the Year finalist Ty Jerome as he enters free agency as an unrestricted free agent. © David Richard-Imagn Images In his first full season with the Cavaliers, Jerome had the best year in his career, averaging 12.5 PTS, 2.5 REB, and 3.4 AST while shooting 51.6% from the field and 43.9% from beyond the three-point line. Although he fell just short of winning the 2025 Sixth Man of the Year award to the Boston Celtics' Payton Pritchard, Jerome made a name for himself this past season and is expected to receive a new contract from a team this offseason. Advertisement However, insiders believe that Jerome will be moving on from the Cavaliers and sign with his fifth team in the NBA. Mandatory Credit: David Richard-Imagn Images Mandatory Credit: David Richard-Imagn Images Marc Stein of The Stein Line reported that the Memphis Grizzlies could be the team that Jerome is looking to join after free agency began on Monday. "Numerous rival teams have pinpointed Memphis as the team poised to enter Monday's business at the forefront of the Ty Jerome chase... Jerome, though, was intent on securing a deal that starts at the full $14.1 million midlevel exception after a breakout season in Cleveland, so it remains to be seen how much the Grizzlies are actually willing to pay Jerome," Stein wrote in an article on Monday. Advertisement It's not certain where the 27-year-old guard will land, but after the Cavs traded for Lonzo Ball, positions in the depth chart are getting filled. This could mean that the chances of Ty Jerome rejoining the Cleveland Cavaliers for next season are going down.
