Scroll down for everything you need to know ahead of the big day RESULTS DAY Exact time SQA exam results to arrive TOMORROW – and what to do if you don't get the grades you want Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THOUSANDS of school pupils across Scotland are set to receive their exam results tomorrow. The Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) will soon notify students of the grades they have been working towards during the last school year. The results will also cover National Progression Awards, Skills for Work Awards, and National Certificates. Certificates are being sent out to candidates across the country by first-class post. But many students have signed up to get their grades digitally, which means they will also be notified by text, email or online through their MySQA account. Over 7,700 SQA markers, made up of experienced teachers and lecturers, have graded over two million exam papers this year. Here's everything you need to know about results day. What time can I expect my results to arrive? School pupils across Scotland will be given their official exam results for 2025 tomorrow - Tuesday, August 5. Pupils can receive their results by text, email, post, or online. To access grades online, students will have to activate their MySQA account. Anyone who has already activated their account will receive a text or email as soon as the SQA release the results. Jenny Gilruth apology as thousands of students received 'blank' result certificates The exam body is expected to release the grades as early as 8am. But if they want to do it the old-fashioned way, pupils who haven't registered an account can wait for them to come in the post. The exact time that these will be received will depend on the area they live in and when mail normally arrives. How do I appeal my grade? Every year, thousands of pupils appeal their grades if they don't end up with a grade that they're expecting. Pupils should already have a rough idea about their expected results based on provisional grades given to them by teachers before the summer holidays. But if the official result doesn't seem right, then the first thing pupils should do is talk to their school. They can then reach out to the SQA on your behalf and ask for the marks to be reviewed. All appeals will be subject to a marking review, which means that checks are carried out to make sure they have been added or submitted correctly. To appeal, pupils will be able to register here for the service from today at 9am. They will need to lodge the appeal before midnight on August 26. If a teacher or school is doing it on a pupil's behalf, it needs to be submitted by August 29. If someone's place at university depends on conditions that depend on their grade, then their appeal can be 'prioritised'. However, a teacher can submit a 'priority appeal' for them. Anyone looking to submit a priority appeal must do so by August 12, or if a school or teacher is submitting it, then the deadline is August 21. Can I see my marked exam papers? LAST year, students in some subjects were able to access their marked exam papers through their school or college. This was part of a Scotland-wide trial introduced by the qualifications body after a successful limited trial in 2023 saw it apply to a small group of schools across two subject areas. It was then expanded to all schools and colleges in five subject areas at various levels. At the time, Fiona Robertson, SQA's chief executive. said the move was a "significant step in expanding the services we offer Scotland's learners". However, the SQA has confirmed that this will not be the case this year. The exam body said: "We've gathered feedback on last year's trial of giving access to some marked exam papers and we'll use this information to shape this service for future years." What can I do if I fail my exam? If someone doesn't get the results they're hoping for, then it's important not to panic - there is lots of support available. The SQA's candidate advice line will be open for students to call and can be reached on 0345 279 1000. It will open at 8am tomorrow and will stay open until 8pm. It will also be available from 8.30am until 5pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Anyone who doesn't manage to meet a conditional offer for university or college can also apply to Ucas' clearing process, external. This is used by universities and colleges to fill empty places in different courses. Skills Development Scotland (SDS) has also set up a special results helpline, with careers advisers on hand to provide support and assistance. The agency will operate an advice line which will be open from tomorrow until Friday. Anyone who needs advice or who didn't get the result they hoped for can call the helpline number on 0808 100 8000.
