The Beauty Marc Jacobs Found for His Fall 2025 Collection
For his Fall 2025 ready-to-wear collection, Marc Jacobs went in search of beauty. And we saw the fruits of his long-nailed, permed hair labor through the marbled halls of the New York Public Library—with the help of longtime collaborators, makeup artist Pat McGrath and hairstylist Duffy.
'Marc was obsessed with the idea of simple beauty,' McGrath shared backstage just an hour before the show, while her fingertips were still gently dabbing model Alex Consani. 'Pure poetry.' The result felt a bit like early Veruschka von Lehndorff—each of the 19 models had smudgy, cool eyeshadow shades around the eyes, a bright, healthy cheek, and a liner rubbed into the lips to resemble their own lips. The most makeup-y part of the look was a swipe of McGrath's best-selling Skin Fetish Highlighter & Balm Duo at the inner corner of the eyes. 'It's a trick that really gives light to the eyes.'

For hair, Duffy's biggest tool of the night was creasless clips. Each and every model, from the uber-extensioned Daria to bobbed Wali had their hair held in place by the clips until the moment they stepped onto the runway. 'When it came to creating a look, this was a challenging season because the beauty wasn't prescribed in the beginning,' the hairstylist says. 'Each of these models means something to him, so we treated each of the girls individually.' For a handful of models, flat bows in an array of sizes were fashioned out of felt—and extension Jacob's obsession with doll-like beauty we have seen over the past few seasons.
In the show notes, Jacobs described beauty as 'a quality or combination of qualities that gives pleasure to the mind or senses and is often associated with properties such as harmony of form or color, proportion, and authenticity.'
