Report: 2 ‘Strong Candidates' Revealed to Become Atlanta Braves Manager in 2026

The Atlanta Braves came into the 2025 MLB season hoping to compete for a World Series title in what was expected to be Brian Snitker's final year with the team. Now that Atlanta is expected to be a seller at the MLB trade deadline, candidates are reportedly already emerging to replace Snitker. USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports that former Miami Marlins manager Skip Schumaker and Snitker's bench coach Walt Weiss are 'expected to be strong candidates' to become the Braves manager in 2026. Related: : 778-637 (.550) as the Atlanta Braves skipper Atlanta has had recent success with promoting from within the organization. Before being hired as the Braves' manager in 2016, Snitker spent his entire coaching career with the organization. He worked his way up from a roving instructor to a third-base coach and later became the club's Triple-A manager. He'll retire as the third-winningest manager in team history. Weiss and Schumaker both have managerial experience with mixed results. Weiss was hired by Atlanta following his stint as the Colorado Rockies skipper (2013-16). After being fired by Colorado, where he never won more than 75 games in a season, Weiss returned to Atlanta, where his playing career ended. Related: Schumaker spent two seasons as the Miami Marlins manager. He was named National League Manager of the Year in 2023 after leading the team to an unexpected 84-win season and a playoff spot. The organization restructured as part of a rebuild the following season, and he was fired after posting a 62-100 record. A World Series champion with the St. Louis Cardinals, where he spent the majority of his playing career, Schumaker is expected to be one of the most coveted MLB managerial candidates this winter. Rangers rumors: Bruce Bochy's likely replacement if he walks away after season

The post Rangers rumors: Bruce Bochy's likely replacement if he walks away after season appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Texas Rangers are having another disappointing season, and the team appears at a crossroads. Texas has an uncertain future with their World Series champion manager, Bruce Bochy. He is in the last year of his contract. Advertisement If Bochy leaves at the end of the year the team is likely to hire Skip Schumaker to replace him, per USA TODAY. 'There's a tremendous amount of frustration in Texas these days with their struggling offense. Future Hall of Fame manager Bruce Bochy is in the last year of his contract and also is considering walking away after the season,' Bob Nightengale wrote. Schumaker previously managed the Miami Marlins. He is currently not managing a team. Schumaker also spent time as a coach with the San Diego Padres and St. Louis Cardinals. As a player, Schumaker won a World Series with the Cardinals in 2011. This season the Rangers hold a 30-35 record. The Rangers have struggled in the last several weeks of the season Rafael Suanes-Imagn Images Texas started out of the gate this season looking like they would contend in the American League West. In May though, things changed. The club started to skid, and had to endure a few separate long losing streaks. Advertisement The Rangers are struggling to hit this year. Texas is hitting at just a .220 batting average as a team, per MLB stats. That's next-to-last in Major League Baseball, with just the lowly Colorado Rockies behind them. Texas is also next-to-last in on-base percentage, which is another reason why they can't get the offense going. Those numbers are surprising, especially considering the Rangers won the World Series just a few years ago. If Texas is to turn it around this year, they need to start getting more offensive production from their lineup. Bochy has managed the team since 2023. He has won World Series titles with both the Rangers and the San Francisco Giants. He also spent time managing the San Diego Padres. Texas plays the Washington Nationals on Sunday. The Rangers defeated Washington on Saturday, snapping a four-game losing streak. The Pirates, Rockies, and Orioles have all brought in new coaches, hoping to change the tide before the season gets away from them. Each team may replace its interim manager by the offseason, with a long-term leader. Following are five solid candidates who might be brought in to lead these struggling teams to a brighter future. Skip Schumaker adds youth and playoff know-how Skip Schumaker guided the Miami Marlins to a rare winning season and earned NL Manager of the Year honors. Even with an otherwise difficult second season, Schumaker's inaugural season demonstrated that he can manage a young team. Being a veteran player who has seen time in a World Series and is well-liked for meshing with young players, he would be a great pickup for teams like the Orioles or Pirates, both of whom have lively young talent. Known for his upbeat demeanor and leadership abilities, Schumaker has quickly become a favorite of the next wave of managers. He also played briefly as a member of the Pirates in 2005, so it may be more interesting to go back to Pittsburgh if the team wants someone who knows the fans and city. George Lombard and Craig Albernaz are on rise George Lombard, the Tigers' current bench coach, is making waves throughout MLB. Although he has not yet managed, he has assisted Detroit in becoming a top team and is admired for his ability to coach outfielders and base running. At age 49, he provides youthful vigor and contemporary style that the Orioles or Rockies may require. Craig Albernaz is another elite young name. He serves as the bench coach for the Guardians at present and has meshed well with Cleveland pitching staff. At only 41, Albernaz has already made many impressions with his leadership and game planning abilities. He would be a great asset in repairing weak pitching units, particularly in Baltimore or Colorado. Brad Ausmus is the most veteran of the group of five. He managed the Tigers and Angels and is now serving as the Yankees' bench coach. Ausmus also had a long MLB playing career as a catcher, known for his smart play and leadership. Though some believe he may be aiming for a front-office job, his experience managing young teams makes him a good option. He's particularly well-positioned for a club that requires someone with a powerful voice and experience in both players and front-office tasks.
