Maruti Suzuki Q1 Profit Rises To Rs 3,712 Cr As Exports Lead The Charge

Maruti Suzuki India on Thursday posted a marginal increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 3,792 crore for the June quarter, with robust overseas shipments compensating for the drop in domestic sales. The country's largest carmaker reported a net profit of Rs 3,760 crore in the April-June period of the previous fiscal year. Total income increased to Rs 40,493 crore for the June quarter as compared with Rs 36,840 crore in the year-ago period. Also Read: Skoda Vision O Concept Previews Brand's Future Estate Car's Design On a standalone basis, the auto major reported a net profit of Rs 3,712 crore, an increase of 2 per cent as compared with Rs 3,650 crore in the June quarter of the previous fiscal year. Net sales increased to Rs 36,625 crore in the first quarter as against Rs 33,875 crore in the year-ago period. The company, which rolls out models like Swift and Dzire, noted that the domestic passenger vehicle industry continued to witness a sluggish demand environment in the April-June period. "For the company, a decline in domestic sales of 4.5 per cent was compensated by a robust 37.4 per cent growth in exports resulting in an overall sales volume increase of 1.1 per cent for the quarter, year-on-year," it stated. The company sold a total of 5,27,861 vehicles during the first quarter this year, comprising domestic sales of 4,30,889 units and exports of 96,972 units. Shares of the company settled 0.1 per cent up at Rs 12,634.45 apiece on the BSE.

ZF has announced the start of production of its Electric Park Brake (EPB) system in India. This debut comes through its integration into a recently launched all-electric vehicle, for a leading Indian OEM, marking a significant milestone for ZF's e-mobility and innovation strategy in the Indian passenger car segment. This start of production is the first ever for ZF's EPB in a passenger vehicle in India, reinforcing the company's commitment to delivering advanced mobility solutions tailored to regional markets. The EPB system supports India's growing shift towards electrification, safety, and next-generation vehicle technologies. It also aligns with ZF's strategy of "Make in India for India and the World". ZF's EPB is engineered to provide class-leading performance in low drag and noise, vibration and harshness (NVH), contributing to its ability to improve fuel economy. Additionally, it represents a significant step in the electrification of mechanical systems, and when integrated with other vehicle systems, it enables advanced functions. Skoda has now revealed the first details of the Vision O concept car, due to premiere in Munich in early September. The study will give an outlook on the brand's future in the estate segment and marks an evolution of the Modern Solid design language. At the same time, the Vision O is reflecting Skoda's 130-year tradition and underlines the company's commitment to sustainable innovation. Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Skoda Auto, has stated, "The Skoda Vision O design study will highlight the future trajectory of estate models under the influence of new technologies, sustainability, and the deep experience of Skoda Auto in this segment. This will be one of our most significant steps in developing and evolving our design language even further for this period of transition in the automotive industry. It will position us to remain a major player in the estate segment, where Skoda Auto has been engaged since the 1920s. We are excited to present this concept to the world in early September 2025, marking a new era for Skoda Auto. The brand claims that the Vision O study presents a consistent evolution of the Modern Solid design language. At first sight, the estate concept features a sleek, distinctive silhouette. The design is predominantly shaped by the light contours, the aerodynamic body, the steeply raked windscreen, and the gently sloping roof typical of Skoda estate models. The model designation "Vision O" is derived from the concept of circularity. This holistic approach to recycling and reusing components minimises the environmental impact of vehicle development and production. Furthermore, the concept is also characterized by the combination of functionality and user experience. The Vision O concept continues the manufacturer's legacy of estate cars, encompassing models such as the historical L&K 110, known for its variable body options. The most successful is the Skoda Octavia estate, first introduced in 1960. Modern versions of the Skoda Octavia estate have already surpassed the milestone of more than 3 million units produced in four generations since 1998, making it also the best-selling estate model in Skoda history. First launched in 2008 with the second-modern-generation Superb, the Skoda Superb estate is also highly popular. Other well-liked Skoda estate models include the Skoda 1101 Tudor Station Wagon (STW) with a folding rear seat, as well as the Skoda 1200/1201/1202 car family.
