Fenerbahce signs defender Skriniar from PSG, Semedo from Wolves

Slovakia defender Milan Skriniar has left French champion Paris St Germain to join Fenerbahce on a four-year contract, the clubs said on Thursday. Fenerbahce said that Skriniar, on loan with the Istanbul-based club since January, will receive an annual salary of 8.0 million euros ($9.13 million). The transfer fee was not disclosed. 'Milan Skriniar... has completed a permanent move to Fenerbahce SK in Türkiye' PSG said in a statement. Portuguese international Nelson Semedo also signed with the club, managed by Jose Mourinho, on a two-year contract. The 31-year-old defender previously played for Barcelona and Benfica and joined the Turkish side on a free transfer after his contract with Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers expired.

The Slovakian spent six years at Inter Milan, having joined in 2017 following an impressive debut campaign with Sampdoria. Skriniar won the Serie A title with Inter. However, his time at the San Siro ended on a sour note. Skriniar made the move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2023. The Slovakian declined Inter's contract extension offer and made the switch on a free transfer. This followed the previous summer, in which PSG and Inter had negotiate on a big money sale. Nagging injury troubles and a tactical misfits were among the reasons for Milan Skriniar never establishing himself as a first-choice starter at PSG. Therefore, the 30-year-old made the move to Fenerbahce on loan in January. However, that loan deal ends at the end of this season. And he will be back at PSG, who will then have to sort out his future. According to the Corriere, a return to Serie A would be a distinct possibility. The newspaper report that Lazio are gearing up for a defensive reshuffle this summer. Advertisement The Corriere anticipate that former AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli and Inter target Mario Gila are among the possible exits from the Stadio Olimpico. Meanwhile, the futures of Samuel Gigot and Patric are also up in the air. Therefore, Lazio are monitoring several defensive targets. The Serie A-proven Skriniar is among these, reports the Gazzetta. Also on the Biancocelesti's radar are Leicester City's Wout Faes, Velez Sarsfield's Valentin Gomez, Lugano's Albian Hajdari, and Valencia's Cristhian Mosquera.
